Hi Gang

My first ride was when I was a young kid in the 70's. That first water drop scared the heck out of me and the rest was awesome. I especially liked that skeleton with the wind in the caverns. Ohhhh scary. :)

We were there last year and I was able to take my 4 year old son on it for the first time and he loved it too. The craftsmanship and detail of that ride just amazes me.

Anyone else care to comment?

Ahoy mateys! Keep your hands and arms inside the boat!

I love this ride enough to not schedule a WDW trip when it will be down...

we all love it. can't get enough of it when we visit. i don't even mind waiting in line for this attraction. We all have just about the entire ride script memorized. i am sure we annoy other "boat mates", but we are having such a good time on this ride that we can't help ourselves.

We even like hanging out in the area around this attraction. Great surroundings.

We love it too!

I, also, remember riding it in the late 70s - I was so scared of the big "dip" - I am not one for roller coasters and that sure felt like on to me.

I really enjoy talking my kids on it now. Each time we see something different. I love the memories:D

I LOVE it! :lovestruc

A classic example of the craftsmanship on that ride is the guy on the bridge with the hairy leg! I love the music and narrator as well...classic Disney!

This post cracked me up. As if being in love with this ride is a rare thing and everyone was going to respond, "No, that is our least favorite ride at WDW. We skip it every single time." ;)

Anyway, add me to the list. I adore it, and I was especially floored by the one at Disneyland. If the Haunted Mansion didn't exist, this would be at the very top of my list.

Ths is my 16 year old dd's favorite MK ride. For me it's a tough choice between Pirates and Haunted mansion. I think my favorite part of Pirates is when you get that first glimpse of the pirate ship and it just seems so huge!
I have heard Disneyland's version is even better. I would love to try it someday.

This is my all time favorite ride at WDW! They have yet to out do it w/anything else! My first time on it, I was only 3 or 4 and thought the pirates were real. I cried the whole way through. I was so terrified. Just goes to show that the craftmanship appears real to all ages.;)
My DH and I went there this month and rode it 5 times in a row. Yeah, I guess you could say we are huge fans!

Chalk another one up for PC. It's not that it's that thrilling of a ride like T of T or some of the other ones but it's a classic. It's like Dumbo, HM, Cindy's Castle....just one of those things you HAVE to do when you go to WDW. A family tradition!!

Aye, Aye, Matey pirate: Count us in. We even dressed as PotC for our first MNSSHP. Had a blast battling for Gold with the other Pirates.....

My teenage son said, "We have to ride the Pirates of the Caribbean next week." Still a family favorite after all these years.
When he was little he used to duck down and scream "They are shooting at us, help me!" ::MickeyMo

I love the Pirates of the Carribean. Man it was so technological back then! I love the woman screaming "Don't be coward Carlos!!! Don't tell heeeeem!!!" or something to that effect. Wow that's funny...maybe I'm just plain weird. On a side note, does anyone know about that guy that was working on the ride and died after a wooden beam fell on him?

pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: Aargh!!!

One of our favorites. The que is really neat too, although there's rarely a long line.

I think the woman in the upstairs window at the well says, "Be brave, Carlos... Don't be chicken."

It was my first WDW ride too and holds a special place in my heart. I still remember my amazement when the boat floats out into the first open battle scene. It was so realistic and I really felt like I was outside on a dark night in the middle of a battle.

It's a classic.
