I've had an account for about a month. Last night I tried several different ways to get to ingdirect.com. No go. I've been trying again this morning. I keep getting the message, "ingdirect.com could not be found. Check the name and try again" I can get to all of the other ing sites on the homepage (ing.com) but not ingdirect.com.

I called customer service and a very friendly rep. told me that they are reporting "trouble in certain areas" It figures that I am in one of those "certain areas"

Anyone else in the "certain areas" with me??????

I'm a little edgy not being able to view any account information. I hope they fix it soon!

Thanks!
I tried your link and got the same Alert! message.

I've tried using a link in an e-mail that came right from ING, tried using IE instead of Mozilla browser, tried doing a search and then using a link that was one of the hits-----nothing works, get the same message.

Since I'm not having a trouble with any other net surfing, I assume the problem is at their end.
I'm still uncomfortable not having access to my account info, even if it is temporary.

Guess I am in a "lucky" area. I have not had any probelms signing on today.

I didn't have any problems this morning or just now . . . strange. I am also in NJ. What do they mean by "certain areas" - do they mean providers like comcast? or geographic areas?
Maybe try to call customer service again?

Well, I guess they don't mean geographical areas bc. belsayre is from MO and having problems and you are from NJ and are clear. I really don't have a guess as to what "certain areas" means. I am totally in the dark as to "the behind the scenes" aspects of the internet.

I called cust serv again the reps really don't know any details. She did say that they got a "number of calls" throughout the morning reporting the same problem and they turned the info over to the company or division responsible for overseeing the websites. She said that they are "working on it" but she had no estimate as to when the problem would be resolved.

As of now (4:20 EST) I still can't get on.

It's been 48 hours now and I still cannot get on!!!!!!!!

I'm getting mad now. I find it very disturbing that an "online bank" could allow a glitch that prevented their customer's access to their accounts to go on for this long. I want to deposit more $$ and open new accounts. Why should I have to wait like this? "Online" is their specialty! Why don't they have this fixed? It's darn important!!

I am calling cust serv and raising a ruckass tomorrow!

I was the one who started the thread "Anyone have anything negative to say about ING?" before I opened my account. Everyone raved about ING. Now less than 2 months later, I am the ONE having a problem! It figures! :sad2:

This may not make you totally comfortable but you can always access your account via phone also and open new accounts etc via the phone. I have a friend who does not have a computer and she does everything over the phone. Any glitches I have had (minor), customer service has been great and very easy to access.I know if I was trying to get my cash for my upcoming trip I would be just a little frantic!! ::MinnieMo

I was in ING about a hour ago and transferred money into my account with no problem. Just tried it again now and got in quick.

Could it be a problem with your computer and secure websites? I had that problem about a week ago (not with ING, my checking account), I restarted and was OK. I could get into regular websites with no problem, but no https. Do you have an anti-virus program, like Norton?

Before I called cust serv yesterday I thought it was my computer. I restarted, ran a "system restore" I tried IE instead of mozilla browser, tried using a link in an email that came right from ING. I still can access other ing websites, like for their other financial services (life insurance, etc.) just not ing direct. In other words, I wasted a lot of time before I found out the problem was on their end. Customer service said they were aware of the problem (in "certain areas") and the proper team is working on it.

I have been patient for 2 days now, but how long is this going to drag on?
Sorry, I'm venting here.

FINALLY!

I just attempted again and YAY! I was able to get on. Earlier today I phoned cust serv and they said that they had completed updating the website and I should not be having difficulties. I called back a few hours later and was told that they are still having problems, in fact the rep had just gotten off of the phone w/ a woman who had the same problems as I.

So now, at 6:40pm I just got on for the first time in over 3 days.

I hope if this happens to anyone else here, you don't spend hours trying to find out what's wrong with your computer (like I did) but realize that the problem could very well be on ING's end!
