Quick question...

Before I discovered this board (which I love and would gladly pay for), I joined the board X, there was a fee.

Now I have not been on that board in a good 7-8 months. Today I get an email thanking me for my renewal. So I send a polite email, and I get back that I should have read the agreement (and I should have), that unless specifically stated, this board has an automatic renewal.

This is now a $49.95 lesson. blah.

thanks for letting me vent.

Ouch. I had that happen once with something, so I now do read agreements very carefully and never sign up for anything with an automatic renewal.

Same thing happened to me and instead I've learned that as soon as I sign in, I immediately remove my CC information and make sure I don't have automatic renewal selected.

Well, I have you beat. I hate to admit this but in December I realized that I've been paying for not one, not two, but three Norton Anti-virus subscriptions for years. One is for a computer that we junked six years ago. Another is for my mom's computer that used to be my computer, but she has another anti-virus program in her name on that PC. The last one is for my old computer that I gave to my three year old last year.

Before this past December I thought the e-mail notices I was receiving were for my old computer that DD has now. It wasn't until I logged in to cancel the renewal that I saw that I had two additional subscriptions that I've been paying for. Not Norton's fault I'm just not someone who can keep track of auto-renewals. They're all cancelled now.

I think I might be on Gamestop Auto Renewal as well. I signed up last Christmas and I am still getting there mags, so I am thinking they have me on auto renewal.

I don't think they have an auto renewal. I signed up about a year ago as well and my magazine came today with a note that it was my next to the last with directions on how to renew.

It has been over a yr for me with no note. I really need to check on that.

Game Stop doesn't do auto renewal, our subscription ran out and we haven't renewed. When we go in to buy something we probably will but we haven't bought from them in ages so....:)

That sucks OP, they won't give you a refund? I detest auto-renew, I won't sign up for anything that required it.

this happened to me with Classmates.com. I joined 3 years ago, soon after I discovered facebook and never used the site again. That is until last week, I discovered a charge for $59.99 for 3 more year renewal! I called their offices in Seattle and demanded a refund. They issued it and canceled the account. There was no reminder email it was just the charge. I was so pissed! My neighbor told me that he got the live Big Brother feeds last summer. He paid $30 fee and as soon as the season was over, they charged his card another $30 for the site! I'm gonna invest in a pre-paid credit card, its good to have that handy for situations like this!

OP, contact your credit card company and see if they can help. If there was no reminder about renewal than I would have been upset with the charge as well.
