Yesterday I had a phone solicitation (yes, I'm on the do not call list) from someone saying they wanted to talk to me about my RCI timeshare points. Well, as well all know, DVC does trade with RCI, but we as members do not have RCI points, nor are we members of RCI. That priviledge is DVC's alone. I mention this because my comment to the caller was that I did not own RCI points. He quickly apologized and hung up.

I was just curious if other DVC owners had gotten a call like this as well?

As an Old Key West owner for a long time, I have not received a call like you mentioned. But, I am on the do not call list so maybe they are respecting my wishes. :confused3

This is probably a "postcard company" or some other up-front fee scam scouring registered timeshare deeds. They are generally crooks, and so violating the do-not-call list is small potatoes compared to the main line of "business".

It almost certainly is not RCI. In addition to all of their other shady dealings, they often use names of other companies to give a reputable impression.

I just don't "get it" when they don't adhere to the do not call list. I didn't stay on the line long enough with this guy, but usually I take all the information I can, and then report it to the do not call registry. After a few times of doing that, almost ALL unwanted solicitations stop. This was my first in a LONG time.

They are crooks. They don't care. When the do-not-call list catches up with them, they just start a "business" under a new name, and keep going.

I haven't gotten one from RCI but about a month ago I got a bunch of calls one day from a company that was calling about my "subscription to Cruise Travel Magazine". When I replied that I didn't have any such subscription they immediately hung up on me. They had called the house numerous times during the day until i got home from work & answered one of their calls. I figured it was some sort of scam so I reported the info & phone # of the company to the Do Not Call Registry. I also get similar calls from some third party company every time I take my car in for service. I've reported them also.
