Anyone else get a survey about room ammenities?

I just got a survey about potential room ammenties from our recent stay at Jambo. It was a pretty interesting survey but I believe they are going to start competing with Owners Locker because they mentioned a couple of times if we would be interested in storing items at Disney for a yearly fee. Anyone else get this survey? I am interested in what others put for their responses.

About a year ago someone said their guide mentioned the possibility of Disney getting into the storage business, too. Now, I love Disney, but there's NWIH I'd use their service. I cannot fathom them doing anywhere near as good a job as Owner's Locker!

(I didn't get the survey, though.)

The people at OL are the CMs of 10 years ago. They understand that by supplying a service that deals with a person's vacation it is imperative they go above and beyond. They do and I trust them. Even if Disney were cheaper I would stick with OL.

As much as I love Disney, have not had our 1st DVC stay yet, nor used our new OL yet, I just don't think this is a good idea. The reason for this is because Disney is so big I can almost see this not ending well for many people. OL has the system down pat in a controlled setting. I think Disney may run into a problem with to many hands handling the lockers. And from all that I've read and noticed with the DVC member website going down do we really want our locker to get lost in their system if they decide to upgrade it? :confused3 I'm gonna stick with my OL once I fill it LOL!!!

I agree with this. I think Disney is way to big to provide this service to the extent that OL does. We will stick with OL as well, I just wanted to let people know it looks like it is going to be an option soon.

I agree with all of the previous posts. NO WAY do I think Disney can do anywhere near the job John and company does! Are they going make it as personal as OL, or are they going to have climate controlled and computerized cataloging? Come on, we all know how "good" Disney's IT department is (isn't). NOPE, I'll stick with Owner's Locker!

I just hope that if they start providing this service they don't start charging the ones who use OL a fee to be able to have the lockers dropped off at bell services.

I'd rather DVC focus their energies on better housekeeping. When they get the basics really nailed, then they can branch out into other areas.

There may be another agenda here as well. They may be getting ready to "enhance the ownership experience due to member feedback" to start charging for items shipped to the resort ahead of trips, grocery deliveries from outside services, OL dropoffs, etc...

I'm gonna join gkrykewy on this one...popcorn::

Agree with all the above, OL, is the best and a grand example of customer service of days gone by,

I'm with you! :thumbsup2

Disney could never truly compete with John & Brian's amazing personal customer service.

As for charging us to have items dropped off & held, I'd make the argument that they would then need to start charging for all luggage held in storage upon check-in/check-out. I don't see the difference of John dropping off my locker & having it held until my room is ready or me dropping off my locker & saying hold this until my room's not ready.

Totally agree

I agree! I would stick with OL even if Disney started to provide a similar service. I have 2 OL's and I would hate for them to start charging a fee to store them! I am curious to see what Disney has up their sleeves with this survey.popcorn:: And no, I didn't get this survey either.

They already charge for items shipped ahead. It wouldn't shock me if they tacked on a fee to receive items from outside services but that will not deter me. I won't like it but I will feel as if I have no choice but to pay it. I can't live on the meager yet expensive selection of groceries they offer and my OL it an integral part in making it feel like home.

They contract Mears for Magical Express. They should contract OL for this, not compete with them.

That would make John and Brian castmembers! I wouldn't mind that as much as having their own storage system. I doubt Disney can do it anywhere near as well as John and Brian do. They put a lot of work into the development of that business and the idea. I think they should quick go get a patent on it!

Get the quality of your current services up to past standards, Disney, and then think about new ideas. Recent "enhancements" haven't always been too helpful. Long live the outstanding service at OL!

To clarify, so far this charge is only at the resorts with convention centers, and it isn't Disney charging the fee, it is the convention services contractor.

They do not charge to receive packages at non-convention resorts.

I have not, so far, needed the services of Owners Locker, as we usually drive to WDW and can cram everyhing into the car. But I will agree with the others, this would not be a good service to be started and operated by Disney. If Disney were to contract with OL (or a similar service) or were to puchase OL or a similar existing service, it would be to an advantage for Disney. The service itself is similar to a record storage service, the software to track the boxes would be about the same...the only real difference is they are delivering boxes of stored goods rather than boxes of files.

As record storage is becoming less viable as a business, with the widely available and inexpensive methods to scan and burn your own data DVDs, there is less need in the business world to store the hard copies for extended periods of time. Disney may be able to acquire an up and running but financially struggling company fairly inexpensively, and simply build a small warehouse on site. The employees would, essentially, already be trained and familiar with the software.
