Just wondering how everyone else feels...not to sound like a complainer, but I was sooo excited yesterday with anticipation of codes being released today and now not so much. We were not able to get any discount at POR for 4/16-4/23 and were on the line at 7 at right through...DU agent also not able to get any...

reading others posts looks like a lot of discounts at the value resorts and to be honest do they really need to be discounted ???

Seemed a little like a tease...I know they don't need to offer anything...but why do so little availabilites at the resorts...

We got a great deal at the FW Cabins.....Not disappointed at all. The price is about 200.00 per night including tax! I had the AAA rate before, and that was 309.00 per night! Big difference!

If there was no code for FW, I would have booked where ever there was a code.

Did you consider staying at a different resort? Did you ask about availibility? You may wind up paying less at a deluxe with a code, than at a moderate without one!

:D

I wasn't disappointed at all! I got through right at 7 this morning. I didn't get my first choice (WL standard view) but did get my second (POR standard) for February. I could have had WL if I wanted to pay a little more for a view and that just isn't worth the extra money to me. I think the codes are great, you just have to be flexible with your resort and/or dates. I've booked 4 trips now with the codes. I'll never pay rack rate (or AAA for that matter) again. Keep trying. People change their reservations all the time. The room you want may open up. I'd especially check back in 14 days. Some people may not send in their deposits.

Actually I'm pretty pleased. I couldn't call until 3:00 this afternoon, because I was away at a conference. But I got right through on the phone and I was able to save $78 per night for our Feb. nights at POFQ. I also made 2 single night ressies at CBR and POR for before and after our BWV stay at Easter. $114 per night for those moderates. The only moderate that had almost nothing left for one of my nights was CSR.

I'm so sorry that you weren't able to get a discount for POR for your dates. Is it maybe worth considering a different moderate in order to get a good price? Or maybe you could try for AP rates when they come out for April (if you have APs??).

There MUST be a discount out there with your name on it! Best wishes!

I think the codes were harder to get this year then before. After numerous calls, I finally got all of our nights at AP rate but had to split our stay between CSR & AKL. I really wanted WL but was willing to take AKL. I would have preferred to stay at the same resort the entire time (we have never switched before) but I am glad for the savings so I cannot complain. Without the AP rate, I would have been staying at a mod the entire stay. It is funny though - I called about 8:30 this eve and asked if CSR resort was avail for 3 nites with either AP or BDP code and I was told emphatically no. At the same time the CM was looking, I was also looking at resort availability ith the new winter resort discount code on-line and CSR popped up for the days I wanted. When I told the CM the web site said it was available and I would just book it that way she asked me to please hold and about 5 minutes later she got back on the phone and said she found the room at the discounted rate. She said she could give it to me at the AP rate. So, you may want to see if anything is available on-line. Maybe they have a different inventory of rooms available on-line vs when you call on the phone.

I'm not sure which code you're using, but according to Mousesavers, one of the recent codes is only good for stays through 4/16, which is the first night of your stay, so I'm guessing codes aren't available yet for your time period.

I know it's frustrating, I kept getting postcards with pin codes that were only good for dates prior to mine! But I got lucky and finally got one that was good for my dates.

Don't lose hope yet, they might come out with something for your dates in the next couple months! Good luck!

princess lover's mom -- for what it's worth, I did check your dates on expedia and it is available for many of the moderate and value resorts. Expedia has slightly more stringent cancelation requirements, but it often has rooms at the room only disney code rate even when WDW itself is sold out. You might want to take a look.

WL for $175 a night (woods), Poly $291 (garden), etc. POR is only available in a king bed which doesn't sound like it would work, but it's showing up. Expedia also is showing most of your dates available at POR in a 2 Queen room, but not for all 7 nights. Did you ask CRO when you called to check on code availability whether they could apply codes to some of your nights? I believe they will sometimes do that, even if codes aren't available for all your nights, but you have to ask, they won't always volunteer.

Anyway, you might want to check expedia from time to time to see if you like anything there or if what you want opens up.

I was disappointed too. I'm glad to have gotten the discount, but it was only $15 a night less than the AAA rate. AKL concierge in value season is still $395 a night (inc. taxes) for value season. Last year the discount rate was $279, I think.

I was ecstatic about my rates for Fort Wilderness Cabins!! I couldn't believe my ears when she said I could have a cabin for $201.82 per night with taxes during peak season. I went at the same time this year also during peak season and paid $221.89 per night with taxes. The quote she gave me for next year is $20 a night less then I paid this year!!

I was prepared for a huge inscrease because the rack rate had been increased way up to $309 per night. I think the amount of the discount might have something to do with how crowded each resort was this year at the same time of year. When we were at Fort Wilderness this year at the same time of year there were some empty cabins so they probably lowered the price to try and fill them up next year. They probably also look at how many reservations they already have at each resort to see how fast they are filling up and give the biggest discounts to those that have the fewest reservations.

Princess Lovers Mom - in answer to your question yes value resorts do need to be discounted too. Us people who can only afford the value resorts deserve a discount just as much as the deluxe resort people do - we're not any different, just less money!

My husband has been laid off twice this year, without the value resort discount, we would not be visiting WDW in February. We may not eat the entire time we're there but job or no job, we're still going thanks to the wonderful codes! Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'm glad I saved money, but I had to downgrade my original courtyard view to a woods view since they didn't have any courtyard views available.... perhaps when the AP rates come out I can go back to my courtyard view.

At least with a woodsview, I'll be able to see my friends, the otters, in the otter pond again!

Everything I've read only shows the newly released discounts going thru 4/16. I think the resorts are much more fully booked in April vs. Jan/Feb - so, it's probably harder to get a specific resort with or without a code in April right after Easter.

We did get a discount, but it is in January & it is for a Value Resort. I do think it is somewhat unfair to say what resorts should or shouldn't be discounted. Shouldn't that mean that those that can afford to stay at a Deluxe don't really need a discount either? We are doing a very budgeted trip in Jan & the only way we are going is because of great airfare & our room discount at the POP.

I agree with the other posters - keep trying back - more discounts may open up as people cancel or change resorts. More discounts may be released for the end of April-May at a later date, too. :)

If anything I feel even more anxious. I was unable to get a discount at GF in January. We are hoping to do Poly in May, but who knows? Even though we can afford to stay at Poly without a discount, we sure wouldn't do it. These resorts aren't worth the rack rates, IMO. So I am officially anxious about codes in May and it isn't even November yet!

I am happy so many were able to get discounts, but I can't figure out why the deluxes with a discount were so hard to get this time around. The discounts weren't even that great (10-20%)

As long as you check-in by the last date of the code you will get it for all your nights. I've been told this several times by CRO and did it just last month at GF. We checked in on the last day the code was available, but we had it for all the nights.

:wave2:

I think the reason there are not many discounts for deluxes is because many of them are convention hotels. When I was looking around online, there were no discounts at all for CR, YC, BC, and only king rooms for CSR (at least for my dates in Feb). If there are a lot of conventions during that time of year, WDW has no reason to discount rooms.

this is also what I meant....by no means did I mean to deprive those saying at a value a discount...I agree the less paid the better for EVERYONE....

it just seemed that there was limited availablility at other levels...moderate primarily at CSR...deluxe at WL was what I was repeatedly offered....in the past there was much more offerings accross the board...thats all

again not complaining...I am a believer that you should book the place you can afford rack rate at and if there is a code it is a bonus....but still little "left out" this time around :)

we do have Poly GV on hold for $291/night with the code....it wasn't as much of a discount as there had been in the past...

To Sheri8253 - You are very lucky!

I just tried the same thing that you did. I went on line to the disney website and they are showing the POR available for the nights I need, Jan 6-9, water view for the special winter rate of $111.50 per night. When I asked the cm to check for an AP rate for those dates she said there was nothing available. When I told her about the website showing availability, she said nothing. Didn't offer anything.

I guess I will have to keep on trying, $90.00 is $90.00!

I'm pretty happy with the code. In 2003 I got WL standard view for $189 with a code. This time around I got ALK savannah view for $206.

My goodness, maybe she is new? I would call back and if that CM is not helpful ask for a supervisor. If it is showing on the site they can get it for you even if they have to call guest services.

Good luck!

I'm surprised. I called and used the public codes this morning and got 8 nights at POR, starting 4/1. I thought it would be more difficult to get the code than that. It's a 32% discount, so I'm pretty happy, although I think us AP holders should have had first shot at Feb - April.

;)
