Was anyone else disappointed in the Osborne Lights this year?
We came specifically to see them this year as they weren't here last year.
First we're herded into them like cattle instead of just being able to leisurely stroll through them and when we requested the 3-D glasses none were available this year so it's just like looking at the lights on your own house. Part of the thrill of the Osborne lights is the "twinkle" effect you get from the glasses like you're actually looking at "stars" and not just lights.

Yes. We didn't even bother because of the huge herd at MGM on Saturday night this past weekend. They looked neat from afar but not worth waiting in line for 2 hours for.

I've never thought they were that great, even before they moved them, it was always so crowded. We did it once and never had any desire to go back.

It's always been crowded! We're usually there for the lighting, though, so I wonder if it thins out a little later?

I'm still excited to see them this year, even though I've always regretted it once I'm in that throng of people. ;)

It definitely thins out later. So many people go for the lighting and then they become part of the "crush." I like to go about an hour or hour and a half after the lighting. I've always been able to take my time and wander through.

:earsboy:

We went there at the end, they didn't even know if we would be able to get in so it was late by then and still a mess.

You didn't mention when you were at the Studios, but if it was during the first couple of days of the Lights, then the crowds would be expected, I guess. Particularly since they weren't around last year. I'll be going tomorrow night, and hitting the lights after a Brown Derby PS, so we'll see how we do.

We - three adults - saw Osborne Lights the Monday after Thanksgiving - no crowds, no crush. We leisurely walked through & enjoyed them very much. Two of us have seen them before & the other person had never seen them.

I am wondering for those who have seen them before and now in the new location--did you like them as well? We went year before last and loved them. My big regret is that we didn't walk through again after we were done. But the pics I have seen of them this year, just don't look as cool as I remember them. Is it just that the pics don't do it justice? I didn't think they looked as neat draped on all the buildings as they had on Residential St.

For those who went this year...does it "snow?" and if so, when? I figured it was right at the lighting...but have no idea...
TIA

We were there Saturday night also, and never got to see them. We didn't realize that there was only one way in & one way out, so we (of course) went the wrong way and had to be sent back around. When we got closer to the end of the line, we over-heard someone say it was at least 1 1/2 hours wait. Forget it! We went and rode Tower of Terror and saw them for a few seconds from there!

Last year when Disney opted not to show the Osbourne Lights, folks were complaining like crazy. So, Disney brings them back this year and guess what.....people are still complaining. In a season where we are supposed to be thankful and be in the giving spirit, please thank Disney for the attempt to satisfy their guests--even if it didn't meet your expectations.

Yes it snows down the street from about 5 locations. We were there about 7:30 and it was still snowing.

I was about to say the same thing...lol. The other day there was a thread about how MVMCP was a waste of money and now the Osborne Lights are "extremely disappointing"... Oh well, no matter what anyone says I'm excited to see all these things myself, I can't wait for my 1st holiday trip to WDW! -Stephanie

Thank you for the snow report! :D (never thought I'd be looking for snow!)

We were there on Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was very disappointing compaired to the residential area, IMO.

I really missed the glasses & the angels. I actually found my glasses from our 2002 trip to MGM when I was cleaning out some bags of Disney stuff to scrapbook the other day.

There were many section of lights that did not light up when we were there. CM's were joking saying that it was Stitch's fault... I really doubt that... there were just too many lights out.

We went to MGM and did the Osbourne Lights on 12/3.

I was talking to a CM there, and found out a couple things about the Lights.

Jennings Osbourne has approval of all lighting concepts by Disney.

Last year, being as Residential Street was unavailable- Disney wanted to put half of the display up in MK, and the other half in WS. Mr. Osbourne vetoed the idea, and the lights didn't go up last year. He did approve the Lights going up this year on New York Street.

Also, he is STILL adding between 1,000,000 - 1,500,000 lights to the display every year! That surprised me...... and although there were no 3D glasses this year, I still had a great time seeing them again.

Happy Holidays!!

We'll be going Thurs night. I'll let you know how we make out. We still have our glasses from 2 yrs ago, so we're planning to bring them since we heard they weren't giving them out this year. It's good to be a packrat sometimes! They even survived our move from CT to FL!
