Anyone else ever solicited for a tip from a DME driver?

JMO but it's not really fair for Disney to tell guests a tip isn't necessary, for a service that's customarily tipped, without compensating the employee..
Someone asked Disney a question so Disney should give an answer.

If the "tipped" employees in question did not say anything or do anything to induce the guest to ask the question, then the answer wouldn't be floating around here.

Forcing people to stay on the bus is nuts. They can't legally hold you on the bus against your will. If they try, it's a confrontation, verbal and/or physical, waiting to happen. Does Disney want that kind of liability exposure??
You wouldn't think so would you?? But, who knows. It's one of those things that just bugs me. I hate sitting on the bus, waiting for the driver to get everyone's bags out, when I have no bag to get.

Ok, I dont ever remember any 'driver signs' requestion tips, I guess they meant actual written signs, if they meant 'movements or gestures' that's a different story, but I do know on at least some of the buses, there were premade, affixed signs basically 'tips accepted for great service' but they used pretty words :). I dont remember if they have been on ALL of the buses, just the mears labeled ones, ie: not a 'real' DCL or DME bus, but they are there for sure on some of them.
I have seen that signage on every single DME bus I have ridden on. Now, I can't say for sure, either way, if the sign was up on the DCL bus I rode to the resort. But, the signs are professionally made up and permenently affixed..not hand written or such. I figure that should be enough info for most guests. That sign tells them a tip will be accepted if the guest feels the driver has gone 'above and beyond'.
We have had this discussion many times before. Many good points are brought up on both sides of the issue. The way I figure it is this...the driver is already paid to drive the bus..he is doing that for about 50+ people. I am getting nothing 'special' in that service. But, if the driver gets my bags out for me, then I am getting personalized service and a tip could be expected.

Forcing people to stay on the bus until the baggage is unloaded down below is nuts.
More practically, someone could miss their plane because it takes additional time for people to exit the bus single file.
If they try, it's a confrontation, verbal and/or physical, waiting to happen.
You know the mad scramble to get out of the airplane first when the jetway is finally in place and the door is finally open.

So should we start a fad? Every time you're stuck on the DME bus, write a complaint letter?

Everytiem you are stuck on the bus get the bus number, time of day, date and the drivers name. Go to the web site and report the driver and the incident. Disney does not want drivers holding you hostage. If I used luggage express and had to wait on the bus for the driver to get other people's luggage I would be completely upset.

Our driver held us also.

There is a sign posted in the front of the bus that reads "Gratuities accepted for exceptional service"
I've used ME 3 times in the last 2 months and have carryon only but have tipped because my bags were stowed underneath.
Our driver did not ask and I didnt feel solicited, but we did remain on the bus at MCO while he took out luggage.
ME is normally sooo early that no one is in a big rush, but if they are not supposed to hold guests than they should not.

or dial 911 and tell them that you're being held on a bus against your will. That would be the last time a driver ever held people on the bus.
