Anyone else crazy like me?

heck no, you're not crazy. You're just as sane as the rest of us. I tend to call the podcast team my friends if I bring up something they said in conversation. That's what so great about them. They make you feel like you've known 'em your whole life :goodvibes

This is also why I'm a little afraid to meet anyone from the podcast - as much as I'd love to. They don't really know me at all, but I've spent so much time with THEM, in my car, in the kitchen.... Seems like it would be weird for one of us, not sure whether for them or me.

Hopefully, they as friendly in person.
Have had bad experiences with other boards of people being friendly online, then acting like you're from Mars if you meet them in person.

& what's so crazy about that?

My 78 year old mother listens to the podcast with me and would probably invite them all to Xmas if they'd come...

I always say I want to invite Leo LaPorte (technology podcasts) over for a barbecue. He'd wonder, who the heck is this Lyn who listens to my shows?!

in truth, between the podcasters and most of the podcast listeners, it is a rather unbalanced relationship.

I hope when I get a chance to meet them in December they will remember me in a favorable way.

Well you can throw me in the asylum too. I also think of them as my friends, they are with me all the time, we drive to work together, mow the lawn together and even occasionally sleep together- but Kathys voice always puts me to sleep its so calming:confused3
I talk about them to my DH who kind of knows who I am talking about, I mention them at work when ever someone talks Disney, so call me crazy.
I cannot wait unti PCC 2.0 when I can finally meet the Podcast team:worship:

Believe ne this would NOT happen with anyone I've met on the Podcast board :thumbsup2

We were watching a Disney documentary last night, and they had a part about Coral Reef, and SO wanted to know why we hadn't gone there while we were at EPCOT in March, and I had to tell him it was because Kevin had a bad experience there. :rotfl2:

I don't pretend like I'm cool with them or anything, but I am really straightforward about who Kevin, Kathy, etc. are when the topic of planning comes up. Plus, my family members already know I listen to it, and they do too when I have it on sometimesXD

It's hard picking a favorite but I think mine would maybe have to be Kevin^^; I just love his nit-picky dining reviews.

Or wait. Maybe it's John. I like how he hates everythingXD Or Pete and his infamous rants....Ah, nevermindXD

That actually happened to me. I was in an elevator at my hotel and I saw someone with a green mickey head. I was so excited and and I said "hey you're a disser" and that person looked at me like I was scary or something.
So for the rest of the elevator ride I just talked to my family and wished them a good trip on my way out. Oh well lol..... Hope the Indy meet goes better lol!

Does anyone else here act like they're personal friends with the podcast crew despite never having actually met them? :goodvibes After listening to the podcasts for close to a year now, I find myself bringing the crew up in daily conversation. When talking to dh, I find myself saying, "Pete and I think that........" or "Kevin recommended that we try......" or "Kathy was there last week and...." etc....... My dh just laughs at me everytime, and yes, even rolls his eyes on occasion. Please tell me I'm not the only crazy one please??? :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Of course!!

I'm on the crazy person bandwagon too. I find myself very frequently sharing updates and news that I've picked up "my friends" from the podcast...or making recommendations for purchases based on what I've tried as a result of things "my friends" have told me (Hydroflask anyone? I LOVE that thing....)

What's even weirder is I find myself worrying throughout the week (or month or whatever) when someone from the team is sick, or when something awful has happened to them...and celebrating when something terrific happens like the birth of Julie and Corey's kids...as if I really know them...It's a little odd, but hey it makes me happy and it's not hurting anyone, so I figure I'm ok with my neuroses. :rotfl2:

Have a great day everyone!!
Brooke

not just the podcasters, also other disers (from this board and the UK trip planning board)..
my family doesn't 'think' i'm crazy, they know i am :)

Forget streaking naked across the ship... it's a long swim home from Nassau... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I do this all of the time! DH, a non-Diser, laughs at me. He never seems to mind the information though...:goodvibes

Ok....if there is a crazy train....I've got a ticket.

I talk about you guys just as much.

I get the strange looks when I refer to you by your board names. No one knows what I'm talking about. It really does work both ways.

By the way....I love meeting folks who listen to the show and I hope that after we meet, you realize that I'm the same on the podcast and off.

I can't wait! Well, actually, I can. I can wait all the way until December.

It will be so much fun meeting everyone in person!
Pre-meeting on the boards and facebook has been so interesting. The photos really help. I hope when I see people I will accurately match faces and names (both real names anda board names).

Sometimes I'll mention them on other forums here on The Dis...

"Well, Kevin really loved his meal at Brown Derby" or "Even Pete liked Pop Century"...

To which the replies are often, "Who are Pete and Kevin???"

Heheheh. I'm guilty of doing this to YOU on the restaurant reviews board yesterday! You commented on the V&A food porn thread, and I only mentioned Kathy and Corey because I knew you listen to the podcast.

It's funny that this thread started, because I introduced myself, followed by, "Is it weird for you that we all feel like we've known you for years?" when I first met you at DIS-A-Palooza's Friday lecture series. (That's my name for it, at any rate!) I figured you found it odd that we all "know" the podcasters, but at the same time, it was also very cool.

Add the fact that you were introduced to a lot of strangers, I didn't expect you would remember some of us without extra re-introductions. I know I had issues remembering. And no, it was not due to DATW.

My "in person" friends are so used to me now that when I talk about something Disney and mention a name they just say "you mean your podcast 'friend'?" :rotfl2:

Yes, well I guess you can take crazy to a whole new level when you start searching the parks for them while on your vacation!

I do the same thing!!! I wear my t-shirt most days (thank you BCV washer/dryer!) in hopes that someone will see it and approach me.:laundy:
