Anyone else as crazy as I am for wearing heels??

I love, Love, LOVE wearing heels......but not to the parks! If you are committed to wearing them, there are a couple of brands out there, sorry I don't remember the names, that are starting to put air soles or gel in the soles of their pumps/sandals under the ball of your foot. I would think this would make wearing them for extended times a LOT more comfortable. Might be something to look into!

One new line is by Cole Haan AIR - Not the original Cole Haan shoes but the newer line called AIR. They joined forces with a shoe engineer from Nike (hence the name Air) and there is air/support built into the shoe, even though you can't see it. It was featured on one of the programs about shoes hosted by Stacy London from TLC's What Not to Wear. Of course, because they are Cole Haan, most of them run into the hundred(s) of dollars. I haven't seen a pair that I thought was really cute - yet.

Rhonna - :thumbsup2 that's exactly the show I was thinking about....I thought they were Cole Haans, but didn't want to put it down if I didn't know for sure. That's disappointing if they aren't making them cute AND comfortable! I've also seen another 'up and coming' designer for these, but I'm sure they run into the $$$'s also....I'm always looking for a good clearance sale!

I have a pair of the Air Cole Haans with a three inch heel. They look cute, and are v. comfortable. The sole of the shoe would be perfect for Disney, however the three inche heel would put me off.

I do wear a one inch kitten heel sandal to DL. To me that's more comfortable than sneakers. I tried Crocs this last time and my plantar fascitis flared up in a big way. I just need a heel of somesort, otherwise my entire body ends up hurting. The key is to not go to high and make sure that it's a strappy sandal that holds itself to your foot so that you don't grip and end up with shin splits.

I recommend the Stuart Weitzman Suspend. It comes in a satin (avoid) and a patent (perfect when it gets wet).

Edited to Add:
I've been wanting a new pair of the Suspends for our WDW trip in February, so yay, just ordered.
Now, if the Air Cole Haans comes up with something similar, I'll switch to that.

Okay IF I bring a pair of heels to WDW what I have in mind are considered to be a comfy heel like the Cole ones mentioned. I actually got them at the Walking Company. I know I may regret wearing them chasing 3 kids around BUT we are going directly to St Augustine for a week following our WDW trip and I know I will need heels for dinners and such there.

To the OP and others who want to wear heels. Just don't plan to file a sue Disney if you break an ankle, or some other part of yourself from falling.

These are the Coles that I have, v. comfy, but not for Disney. FYI, the price on zappos is about $200 less than when I found them at Nordstroms.

I just looke on the Cole Haan website and didn't see any cute, lower heels that I would wear to Disney. Maybe he'll have some sandals when the spring lines come out.

I always bring a pair or two of heels for an evening out. But a few years ago we ran down for a quick weekend and all I brought were high-heeled boots. I was in agony by Saturday night (and I was used to wearing heels at work so it was nothing new).

As long as you plan on wearing comfy shoes the majority of the time, I think you're ok!

i love heels but there is now way I would ever wear them to the parks at disney! My feet hurt as it is and i've tried sneakers and flip flops. I bought a pair of Crocs for our October trip and I never wore them once so I have yet to try that experiment....March 2008 will be my Crocs test but certainly no heels!

I do wear a strappy sandal with a bit of a wedge heel, although low. My feet swell and I even my expensive Nike Air sneaks throb! But, I can't go with a cheap sandal either. I love to walk but am recovering from a broken ankle, plantar faceitas as well, and broke my two baby toes too! Argh! I'm planning on bringing a few different kids of shoes, because I know I'll have to change just because.

Hush Puppies had some decent comfy shoes. At least I liked them.

I'm a heels girl, too but not at WDW. I took one pair of wedge sandals last summer and wore them to Boardwalk one night but I coudn't imagine wearing them in the parks. Even if we aren't doing much or staying long its alot of walking in the parks and the thought of being totally uncomfortable and having to walk all the way back out, catch a bus or whatever to the hotel, and then to the room is too much for me. It's regular sandals or tennis shoes for me.

LOL! I can understand your dilema. I live in Hawaii where rubber slippers (flip-flops to you mainlanders) are the normal footwear much of the time. Yet I refuse to leave my home without sandals with heels. I have gone on 12 hours shopping trips (pretty much non-stop with the exception of a 15 minute lunch and maybe a snack or two) but when it comes to WDW, I gave in and wore comfy athletic shoes.

You don't have to wear athletic shoes since there are many comfy sandals such as Clarks and such that have a bit of a heel. You might want to do a half day in heels and the other half in low sandals or even carry your comfy shoes with you so they are available when your feet start aching. I just would not go the entire day in heels, ouch!

Walking in DW isn't like walking on the set of s#* in the city. You better have your foot doc on speed dial cause if u wear heels u will regret it!!!

I guess I'm one of the very, very tiny minority who has worn 1" heels on EVERY trip to Disney (averaging once a year) and never thought anything of it. I've worn heels nearly every day since early high school and, because of that, a few hours in flats stretch enough muscles the wrong way that I'm nearly immobilized the next day. I have a few pairs of tennies that give just enough heel hight to keep my legs from hurting ... but I still prefer my well-broken in shoes that just happen to have heels. You can take all the pics you like (won't bother me at all) but just know that I'm as comfortable as you are in your crocs!

Now people who wear any type of shoes that include straps digging into their feet - yeowch!

Thank you!! Finally someone who lnows what I am talking about!!! Nice to meet ya!!

One of those women who walk around Disney in high heels, that my wife and I comment on, in terms of being impractical.

(I was trying to be funny, but evidently failed)

I thought you were funny. That's exactly what DD13 and I do when we see the ladies in the high heels taking tiny steps through Animal Kingdom.

The pavement in portions of Disney is not smooth, so I don't know if heels are a good, or safe, idea.

My last trip I was into heels and wore a two inch wedge sandal the whole trip. We stayed from open to close for 7 days doing extra magic hours. I had even taken flip flops but didn't need them because I was so comfortable. I'm sure people thought I was crazy but my feet didn't bother me one time.

I'm into flats now but pointy toe which i've decided to ditch for WDW. I'm determined to find comfortable dressy shoes for Christmas in WDW.

In the heel girls defence I have never found sneakers comfortable.
