Dh and I have never been Valentine's Day celebraters. Maybe more pre-kids then now. It just seems like we are always so busy and it is one more stress adder to our week. Usually the day of, he may run out and get me a card (I hate flowers) and some candy (I'm dieting now!) I haven't gotten him anything yet. I bought each of the kids a small gift - stuff they wanted at really good sale prices after Christmas and a little candy. I just figure DH and I tell each other I love you on a daily basis, I don't need him to make a big fuss on 2/14. Plus I got a really expensive fabulous Christmas gift and I already told him that was good for the rest of the year :D that and the Disney trip he is letting me plan.

We're the same way. We usually just get cards for each other, although DH has in the past gotten me flowers or candy. I've gotten him a card for this year, that's it!:D

i'm anti-valentines day cause i don't have a SO, DH, BF or anyone like that... i'm wearing black on friday!!!!

I wouldnt say Im "anti" Valentines day, but its no big deal to us. DH is probably the least romantic guy around, and since the kids have come along, Im too busy, and have less money to worry about Valentines day. I also dont like flowers(waste of money, they die) or chocolate(well, I like it, but Im trying to lose weight). I find those mushy cards to be useless. I know DH would never think those thoughts on his own and tell me, so when he gives me one, I find it sort of funny. Im glad the card writer feels that way about me. ;)
I may make his favorite dinner for him Saturday night, or something like that, but no big celebrations or gifts here.

I consider Valentine's day a "Hallmark" holiday. By that I mean it is a holiday to sell cards. I do get the kids a little candy or something but I would rather get a card - just because not because it is Valentine's Day. I don't like flowers because my cat eats them and they are a waste of money.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about flowers. Whenever I get them I stick them straight in the car and drive them to the nursing home.

It's a Hallmark Holiday created to insure profit for that company, florists, and candy makers. Don't do cards, candy, flowers, or dinner out! I find nothing romantic about forcing yourselves together one day out of the year! In fact, I'll be cleaning chicken, scrubbing potatoes, chopping vegetables, doing dishes, and other cruddy kitchen chores since our Hallmark weekend will be spent preparing a dinner for 200+ -- NO, it's not a Valentine's dinner either! ;)

We should be proud that we're not buying into the commercialism that is present day Valentines' Day !!

Like many others on this thread, it's not that we don't like VD, just don't want to rush around and get some "bauble" that is overpriced and won't be used.
We wish each other a HVD and I'll probably fill up hubby's coffee cup without being asked--isn't that enough ??

Would rather save the cost of a dozen roses for something I REALLY enjoy.

I'll just echo what has already been said. I prefer my dh to treat me nicely every day. (which he does!) I shudder at the cost of roses and beg him not to buy them.

DH always got me flowers and a nice card when he was well.. Now we're just sure to pick up some little something for DGD..
