You'll think I'm trashy then because I love the Looney Tunes character Sylvester. Actually I think that all of the Looney Tunes characters are great classics done by great artists who just happen to be trashed a bit by being featured at Six Flags. But to each their own.
I'm having trouble with the concept of judging people for having tattoos or for some of the other reasons listed here. I've had wonderful friends who had tattoos and I don't understand disliking them for that reason.![]()
Tattoos are "permanent reminders of a temporary feeling". I hate them.
We have a tattoo parlor here called "Impulse Tattoos." My dermatologist BIL jokes about opening an office nextdoor called "Sober Reconsideration Dermatology."
And without the visible reminder, he'd forget about the child? In your opinion. People get tattoos for many different reasons, many get memorial tattoos to remind them of someone they love that has passed away, it helps with the grieving process. But obviously they must be only grieving temporarily, because you say so. When a father loses a child and has that portrait tattooed over his heart, when is that temporary feeling supposed to go away?
That's hillarious. I think we could all send him some clients. Right away I'm thinking of a friend of mine who despises a tattoo she had done in college . . . she started having it removed, but can't afford the treatments to complete the process. And there's a student of mine who went to a professional place on her 18th birthday, told 'em what she wanted . . . and when it came out horrible, the "artist" admitted that it was his first day on the job and he wasn't very good yet. You'd think they should be required to mention things like that. They didn't charge her, but now she has this badly executed thing on her forearm. She's the kind of girl who's going to go into a professional job, and she's going to end up paying to have that mess removed. We have a tattoo parlor here called "Impulse Tattoos." Best post on the whole thread! I used to love that show!I love a good Tattoo

Everybody judges someone at some point in their lives. It's human nature! Our brains like to put things in categories based on past experience and information, even when we don't have all the facts.
The problems come when people discriminate against others because of their judgments.
If someone is saying that they don't want to be friends with someone because they have tattoos...yeah that's an issue. Someone who is saying they make certain assumptions about people with tattoos is just being honest, and there is nothing wrong with that so long as they don't let those assumptions lead to discrimination.
Perhaps I'm oversensitive. Perhaps it is my line of work. I love every one of you, with ink or without. I appreciate the opportunity to read this board with my morning cup of coffee before I go to work. I enjoy spending a few minbutes of internet time with other Mickey Mouse fans like myself (why do you think I moved to Tampa?).
I guess that I read some comments as saying that they'd think certain things about people and those things would be negative. I could see extending that to mean that they wouldn't like those people because of the negative thoughts? Maybe too much of a leap.I don't think most people (but I haven't read all the posts I missed while sleeping, so maybe it's changed) are saying that they dislike people who have tattoos, just that they might assume certain things about people with tattoos.
And the Looney toons thing is a total mystery to me. I have no idea why in the heck I think they are trashy, as I said in my post I actually have friends who have a lot more class than me that love them. I also have friends and family with more class than me who have tattoos. I do make the assumption, but I'm not so stupid that I assume my opinions are facts and that there aren't a million exceptions.
We all stereotype. Every single person on this thread does, we may not have the same categories or the same criteria for placing people in them, but we all walk around putting people into categories and assuming things about them.
Hopefully nobody here is saying they dislike someone because they have tattoo, that is obviously wrong.

To rephrase then, I can't see having negative thoughts about people based on the tattoos alone. Just as I couldn't see the Looney Tunes opinion. Hmmmm.... This makes me wonder what people would think of Looney Tunes tatttoos.![]()
You always seem to get a lot of what you don't really want.Well to be fair I can't really see having negative thoughts about people with Looney Tunes shirts either. It's totally irrational as far as I can tell, and I've never met anyone else who thinks like that. I guess in my childhood I must have met some trashy people with a love of looney tunes and my poor messed up brain still goes to that category at the sight of tweetie bird! My whole family makes fun of me for it! When my son was born I think I got a tweetie bird onesie or blanket from every one of them!
Also I should say that in my mind trashy doesn't always equate to negative. It's just one of the categories floating around in my noggin. I actually think there are some positive things to being "trashy". The people who I know personally who fit that category (granted I don't personally know that many) are hard working, down to earth, and a hoot to hang out with!
I also of course don't think having a tattoo makes you "trashy". My brother is loads more refined than I am! It's just where my mind first goes when I see them.
You always seem to get a lot of what you don't really want.
I suspect that we all have things that push our buttons. I'm just too groggy this morning to remember mine.![]()
Off topic, but didn't the bananas used to dance?
Is my computer jacked up or are the little banana dancers frozen?
It's dancing right now on my screen.
Can you see these guys dancing?I must have the dreaded frozen banana virus!
No dancing bananas here.
And without the visible reminder, he'd forget about the child?
