Anyone else affected by the ice storm in Michigan??

We had a terrible ice storm yesterday. We ended up losing power last night around 5:30. Just in time for dinner! And of course, we have no back up for heat or anything. Ended up at some friends that have a fire place. Their power came back on about 9:30 pm and ours is still off. (we're about a mile apart) Power Company says it could be as late as midnight Sunday. Lots and lots of tree damage. We're supposed to get down to single digits tonight. And wouldn't ya know it.... DH is in Florida at a conference. Kids have been sick, and we needed someplace warm and our own sleeping space so we are taking a mini vacation at a hotel. I'm so ready for a vacation. Hope anyone else in the line of this rotten storm faired ok.

Hey there. Where in MI are you? We are near Traverse City and had bad weather yesterday but no ice. Some of the roads were closed around here yesterday and I heard they pulled the plows. DH works in a hospital and they were giving hotel room vouchers and putting up cots for those who couldn't make it home. DH was going to stay and then he decided to come home after all.

I don't know how much snow we've had over the past two days or so. Lots is all I know. Right now the wind is howling something fierce. I hope we don't lose power tonite. It's so yucky!!! I am so ready for Spring and Summer. We are supposed to have a high of 9 tomorrow.

We had a ton of rain, thunder, lightening and wind last evening and into late night but it was dry when I got up this morning. It is suppose to get colder tomorrow.

I'm in the Port Huron/Marysville area.

My girlfriend and I went up to Mt Pleasant today (to the casino) and couldn't believe the ice storm!! There's nothing south of Lansing like that. Everything looked like glass.

I have to say it was very beautiful with the setting sun hitting it this evening. But I know it's got to be a pain without electricity!

We are about 45 minutes north of Grand Rapids. (we're at a hotel in GR and there is nothing here compared to home) My folks live about 45 minutes north of us and they didn't get the ice like we did (some though) , but some snow. I've lived in Michigan all but 2 yrs of my life and every year I keep saying how much I hate the winters here!

I'm in Detroit and all we got was heavy rain last night. We almost lost power due to the high winds this morning. Thank God we didn't!
