Anyone Else Addicted to the Sims??

My DS bought the Sims game for his computer a few months ago, and played it all the time...then when things got busier at work he didn't have time so let me borrow it last week. I can't believe how much FUN it is!! I spent waaaaayyyy too much time playing it!! His SO has this week off and wants it back tho. Maybe I'll just have to go buy my own.

My DD has The Sims Hot Date and will play that for hours on Sunday afternoons.
I haven't gotten into it yet--I'm afraid I'll like it too much!

i too am a sims addict...

you know...there is a patch that you can download for the game that will allow you to play it without havig to have the cd's...

i think you can get it from thesims.com...

i have the sims deluxe version, hot date, vacation, and unleashed...i love it!!

i use a patch for mine so that i don't have to always have the cd...

You mean, if I download the patch then I can play the game without having to use the CD in my computer? I won't have to buy my own? Will it be the same as the deluxe version that I've been playing, or will it be different?

I have all the expansion packs, except for Sims Online.

I really like Sims Unleashed. The exapnded neighborhood and the Old Town district is fantastic.

You can also try buying an expansion pack. Once you install it, that will be the CD you need to play the game. If you have to reinstall the Sims, you borrow the original CD again.

mine isn't any different than if i was running them from the CD...but each time you add an expansion pack, you'll have to download the patch for that pack...

or as olena mentioned, you can buy one of the expansion packs, i'd recommend unleashed also. once you install that one, then you won't need the cd for the original sims...the unleashed cd becomes the required cd to play...

ok...go to thesims.com....then click on the link at the top that says "to enter thesims.com, click here"...then click on the option to "get cool stuff"...then scroll down a bit and you should see the info for the patches...

DH bought me SIMS for PS2 for my birthday - I've been obessed ever since!

Can't wait til we get our tax return $$ - we're getting a computer and I want the SIMS for the computer!!

Another SIMS addict here. My latest version is SIMS VACATION. I'm playing in a house right now where I have 3 sick sims! What a pain in the tushy!! I do know how to make them better, but it's work. I keep shoving them in the rejuvantor and I pump the adults full of coffee. I have to keep the energy bars high and try to keep them away from one another. My little girl died three times before I went online to figure out how to save her. It must be working because I'm into a second day to where I lost her on the first day of trying to make her better. I hate SIMS on the PS2, I just don't like the way they worked it. I guess having it on the computer has me spoiled really.

You could probably do this, but you would technically be pirating the software, even though you probably weren't intending to so. Most people are unaware how much money is lost to deveolpers becuase people make copies of games this way and never buy it for themselves. Unless your son is willing to stop playing the game and let you keep the CD, the best thing to do would be to buy yourself a copy of the game. Then you could still apply the patch if you find inserting the CD a hassle.

I've been playing it for ever. I have everything up through Unleased. As I got a new one I would put the old one on my DD's computer. They are just as bad as me now. I even take my lap top w/the sims on it, on vacation. We love our Sims.

I'm surprised that the developers of the Sims would put out a patch allowing anyone to play without the CD. As WDWHound said, that would be piracy and most companies don't allow it. These types of patches are commonly known as "cracks". I have a friend who uses them all the time because he likes to play music CDs while gaming. I prefer the game sounds myself. I'm curious as to why EA would put this out there the way they did.

i'm not sure why they do it, but they do...

i'm hoping to get DH's laptop soon...his company is buying him a new one and i want the old one to use for my sims! that way i can play it anywhere...we have one car right now and i end up sitting out in the parking lot waiting for him after work for up to an hour some nights...it would be so nice to be able to play with my sims to kill time!!

btw, i only use the patch for my own game...i haven't given my cd's to anyone to install the game and then use the patch...just wanted to clarify that one...don't want anyone to think that i have pirated software or anything!! i've purchased all of my cd's and they are all registered on the sims site...
