We are driving from Indianapolis this September and I was just curious how long it takes those of you who drive from Indiana. Mapquest says over 15 hours but I am wondering if it will really take that long. Also, any suggestions or tips for driving down- shortcuts or good stopping places for kids, things to look out for? Thanks!

Well, I think that is very accurate. It takes us 3.5 to 4 to get to you, and then we go down 65, spend the night at Chattanooga, then down 75 etc. to Orlando. It takes us without stops about 18 hours.

We'll wave at you as we cruise through Indy! :thumbsup2

Seems to me that 15 hours is not an unreasonable estimate.

We live in Atlanta and have driven to Indianapolis -- it was right around 8 hours driving time. And our driving time to WDW is 7 to 8 hours.

Of course those times will be "plus or minus" something since we don't live right on I75.

Things to look out for -- Driving through Atlanta on a weekday can be rough. Afternoon/evening rush hour can start around 3:00 and can last until 7:00. Depending on the day and the time of day and what "incidents" have happened that day, you might choose to go around the perimeter (I285). But that's not always better, so you need to listen to traffic reports. When you are getting close to metro Atlanta on the north side, tune your radio to AM 750, and listen to traffic reports. Going straight through downtown on a Saturday or Sunday isn't typically too bad -- unless you're hitting gameday traffic for either Atlanta Braves or for Georgia Tech Football.

If you're looking for places to spend the night on the way down -- Of course, there are lots of places in Atlanta. Then there are places around Macon. Then there's not a whole lot of choices until you get to Valdosta.
