Hi all! We are leaving Sunday OMG o'clock in the morning. Just wondering if anyone has done this trip, not worried about the trip down since we can leave in the middle of the night. But for when we are coming home from Disney, I was wondering where a good place to stop and spend the night might be?

We drive from Ohio, we take I-77 to I-26 to I-95 to I-4 to WDW. Last year, we left at 8:00 p.m. and arrived at 11:00 a.m. This year, we're planning to leave about 3:00, when DS gets out of school.

The first time we did this, we left at o'darkthirty and went as far as Brunswick, GA. That took about 10 hours. We find it easier to drive straight thru, our boys slept for the biggest part of the trip.

We are close to Columbus. We are planning on taking I 75. We also are planning on leaving at midnight on Sunday and driving straight through. But coming home we will most likely not leave in the middle of the night, so we plan on stopping about half way.

Oops mean we plan to take I 77 since it is closer to us

We live in Lexington, KY. We always take 75 to Fl turnpike and then there is a new toll road( doesn't cost much) that parallels I-4. There is much less traffic on this toll road than I-4. We leave about 6PM stop for dinner and the kids go to sleep and get there about 6AM or so.

A good book to check out is Dave Hunters Along I-75.

We are near Columbus and we take I 77. We have done both and we found that I 75 took longer. We are stopping at Charlotte, NC on the way home. It is about 1/2 way. We drive through the night to let the kids sleeps sleep on the way but found we are too tired on the way home to not stop. Have a great time!

Of our 4 non-rv towing drive downs with children we have driven straight through from Amherst (30 mi west of Cleveland). We use 77. Always have stopped near Charlotte on the way home. Once in Mooresville, 2 times in Rock Hill, SC and once in Charlotte. In Mooresville it was a mediocre Ramada. Used Priceline and received a Hyatt (or a Hilton?) right off the highway very reasonable. In Rock Hill it has been a very clean Days Inn.

We take 77 and have driven straight through once with the kids. From southern OH it takes about 14 hours.

Usually we stop near Walterboro at a hotel with a pool. Swim them, put them into bed, and enjoy the next day. Love stopping at the Florida welcome center, the fort in St. Augustine, the beach, etc.

We're from Grand Rapids MI and plan on driving. I think leaving at night might be a great option.:thumbsup2

We are driving from Temperance,MI and leaving around 3-4am when we drive in September :woohoo: but we have always taken I-75...:confused3 is I-77 really shorter and a better route to take???

Hey terlane, I live in Monroe! We have taken both ways, but prefer 75. When are you going again?

Hi....we have always taken 75 every time we go...DH choice...We have never taken 77 and didn't know it was nicer/shorter...We are leaving 9/27 and wont be back until 10/16........When will you be traveling??

We have driven both the 75 route and the 77 route. 75 is, obviously, a straight shot and flat most of the way. 77 is definately more interesting and mountainous. So, it depends on what kind of driving you like ;) But, it comes out to 14-16 hours any way you shake it.

We moved from Columbus to Charlotte, so we cut our drive to Disney in half.....definately a selling point for Charlotte for us! :woohoo:
