As the title suggests, just wondered if anyone had done Wishes cruise and what their experience of it was please?? Also, if anyone's done Pirates & Pals?? My dad was thinking about booking Wishes as a place to propose to my mum (again! They split up when I was little but got back together recently!) :) I told him I'd ask on here and see what response we got. His other plan was to get PhotoPass and get the photographer to take pics as he proposed outside Cinderella's Castle. Also, anyone done Pirates & Pals?? Thought my son might enjoy it next time we go. TIA! :)

We did pirates and pals on Christmas eve last year ( DD's birthday!) We did enjoy it but if you are looking for an excellent view of the fireworks then I wouldn't bank on it. You are pre assigned your seat. We were sat on the back row on the right hand side of the boat (as you look forward) and didn't have a very good view.
The special guest you meet at the end was totally worth it for us though, and DD still talks about it, so I guess we'll be doing it again! ;)

Hook and Smee at the contemp beforehand were good fun ( there is a photopass photographer there) and the jokes from the pirate captain were corny and good fun!

HTH :goodvibes

We did the wishes cruise 3 years ago and thought it was well worth the money. We had the boat that's pipes the music in and provides refreshments (cans of drink) and split the cost with the family that we were holidaying with. It's not a big boat but plenty of room for the 8 of us and the driver/captain gave us a mini tour around the lagoon and was good company. Really magical and would love to do it again one day :goodvibes

Thanks MummyCat, will let my Dad know. He'll be happy with that I reckon :) My Mum's always secretly wanted to go to WDW (she thinks we don't know! lol!) She's been in love with the Beast from Beauty & the Beast after she used to make a point of having girlie time snuggled up with me in the late 80s/early 90s when BBC made an adaptation of Beauty & the Beast so think it's quite apt he proposes there :)

Thanks for the Pirates & Pals feedback too... will have to have a think about this one I reckon.

We did a Wishes cruise for my birthday last year.

It was nice (spoiled a little by the weather a cold front passed through and it was damp and this was June!) however there are quite a few boats jostling for best position in front of MK so you aren't guaranteed a perfect view. Because you are the water you lose something by not having the castle as the back drop for the fireworks.

It was nice for something different as it was my actual birthday however it was very expensive really. Not sure I would do it again.

An illuminations cruise might be better as go on the lagoon to watch so you see the full show.

Ah right. Will look into Illuminations cruise then as well. With it being a proposal, it's got to be just right as you can imagine. Dad's plan was to propose and try and get a reservation at BOG for supper afterwards if they still open. We'll both be manning the phones while trying online as well. Would love an ADR for BOG myself but would rather my folks got one as it will be such a special thing for my mum so we'll both be trying our best to get the ADR for them :)

I guess it would depend on which trip your Dad intends proposing. If its when you are staying at YC the Illuminations cruise leaves from there but it would be nearly 10 before you were back as Illuminations is always at 9.00pm. We did that cruise and ate at the Yachtsman first then had ice cream at Beaches and Cream after the cruise but we didn't have snacks on our shared cruise.

If its when you are all at the GF in October you would probably be easier with the Wishes cruise but again it depends on the timing of Wishes, doubtful you would be able to get to eat at BOG after either.

There is no way you will get back after a Wishes Cruise to eat at BOG.

You will get an ADR online for BOG if you are a bit flexible with time :goodvibes

OK, thanks for the heads up on that. May be worth me suggesting to Dad he proposes at BOG I think. With my mum being such a Beauty and the Beast fan, she may be more blown away by a proposal there :) A MASSIVE thanks for all your help though! :) :) :) (and thanks from my Dad too! I know he'll be grateful of all advice he can get!) :)

Would it not be more romantic on a cruise rather than in a busy restaurant?

You can organise Private Dining on either cruise and as you are staying Club level at GF concierge would organise absolutely everything for you. :thumbsup2

Yeah, probably would putting it that way. Considering I'm a woman, I'm pretty useless at this! Lol! Will show my dad this whole thread and see what he says but thanks SO much to all who've contributed! :)

We had a Wishes cruise after our wedding - it was me, DH, my brother and SIL. Hubby just announced yesterday that he wants to book it for next year too (our 5th anniversary).

I loved the whole experience - our captain was really friendly and knowledgable. He took us quite close to the edge of Discovery Island because I told him I'd visited it on one of my first trips. He also told us about some cool things to watch out for during Wishes itself. :D
