Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone had done the Mexican Cuisine Workshop and Tasting in Cozumel. My mom and I love to cook and jump at the chance to do so. My dad likes to eat good food, so it's a win-win situation. I looked in my PassPorter (only the 3rd edition...got it on sale for the repo cruise info...I'm waiting for a few more months before getting the newest one) and it had no info on the excursion.

If you've done the excursion, what did you think of it? Is it worth the time and the money?

TIA!

Maybe this is a new excursion. I don't remember having this as a choice last May. It sure sounds fun though!! If you don't do it, I suggest lunch at Pancho's Backyard. Yummy!

I checked my excursion list from our 6/11/05 Mexican Rivera Cruise but did not see that excursion listed for Cozumel.

:surfweb:

Cozumel is a port on the Western Caribbean itinerary, so it would not be listed on the Mexican Riviera excursion list. ;)

It was not available last July (06) when I did the western.

I would have booked it as I am a big foody and love learning about and trying new foods.

bump -- I'd love to know too!

Thanks,
Ginny

OK...so...since the Magic just got back from a Western Caribbean, maybe somebody (please!?!?!?!?) did the excurssion? Since the Magic is heading right now to Spain, we'll have to wait until she gets back.:sad1:

I also have the Passporter you are talking about and was looking at that excursion. With so many saying it either wasn't offered etc, I thought I'd make sure it was on the official DCL website and it is! Here's the info from the site:

Mexican Cuisine Workshop and Tasting

Savor the flavor of Mexico! Enjoy a 25-minute ride to Playa Mia Grand Beach Park where an expert chef will introduce you to the delectable art of authentic Mexican cooking. Learn the scrumptious secrets of cuisine creation as you prepare a mouthwatering full-course feast from start to finish — before sitting back and enjoying your meal with a glass of fine wine. After two hours of cooking and dining, sunbathe and swim at the park's private beach before the 25-minute ride back to the ship.

I'm hoping someone has done this and will offer an opinion....

Hello everyone!

Since the Magic is now heading back from the Med as I type, I thought I would throw out the age-old (well, at least March-old) question. My 90-day date for booking is fast around the corner for my cruise in December and would love to have some first-hand feedback on the excursion. I just checked the DCL website and this excursion is still available.

As always, TIA!

I'd go for it! It sounds amazing! If it's offered when we sail inMarch I'll definitely be booking for Dh and me!
Thanks so much for the info!

Time for the bi-weekly bump. I get to book my excursions tonight!!! YAY!!! My mom really wants to go horseback riding in Cozumel now, so I might be doing this excursion solo. Since the Magic just got back today from the sunny Western Caribbean, though I would do my regular check-up.

It is at at Playa Mia Grand Beach Park. A typical menu is pan grilled fish, rice, a banana pepper half stuffed with charizzo (sausage), squash blossoms and spice, a cup made out of tortilla mix with refried beans and more. One cool thing is you get take rescipes home of everything you make.

You are actually in a pavilion right on the beach and part of your excursion cost is for the beach use. You will have 1.5-2 hours to relax on the beach after you cook and eat before your bus goes back to town or you could pay $15 for a cab to go back later.

If you go to Play Mia dot com and follow the links there is even more info.

Good luck!

I'm having a hard time trying to find info/reviews about this as well. Can someone at least tell me the cost?

The workshop is $69 per person. It's for adults 14 years and up. The website that TexasGirl posted has a nice overview of what is offered. I went ahead and booked it for my cruise (only 59 more days!!!!) but I might cancel to go scuba diving instead. However, if I do go ahead and keep it, I'll certainly post a review for y'all.

I think we're going to go ahead and book it as well. The price seems steep but that's Disney for you. We'll just have to bite the bullet.
