I tried to search to see if this had been discussed before, but the search function is wigging out on me  I'm just curious if anyone has gone out on the cruise by themselves? It doesn't seem as if there's that many activities for solo adults on the ships.

Rivercat--I haven't done DCL yet, but am actively looking to book a last minute on the Wonder in February. However, I have done CCL as a solo, it was a great experience, no having to worry if you're pleasing anybody else. You can do what you want to do, sleep until you want to sleep. No worries.

I was a little bored on CCL, but we had two sea days and I don't do sea days. From what I've seen of Disney I probably won't have this problem though.

Hi anlily, I did a little more research after posting, and it looks like the 7 day cruises have some seminars you can take which sound really interesting. The 3 & 4 day trips only have a few tours apart from the usual alcohol tastings. All the cruises appear to have a Singles Mingle hour on the first day.

The thing that makes me hesitate to do any cruise solo (especially last minute) is the 50-100% additional fare most of the lines require if you can't find a roomate :scared1:

I saw that Travelocity is having a cruise "sale" with some of the Feb DCL sailings included.

try this one too - the very, very nice people on the cruise board told me about it

look at the disney wonder going on Jan 31 - you could pay double what they want and still be ahead.

Yep! A friend of mine has done 2 cruises through that service (though not DCL) and recommends them highly.

ETA: I should say she did the hosted singles options, but the rec still applies.

I am cruising alone with my 11 year old son in September 2008 and I hope to find some single adults to hang out with also.

I am guessing my son will be with other tweens all week.

Maybe an odd question but how much interaction is the staff allowed to have with guests?

I just got back from a 4 day Wonder sailing. I went solo. It was a terrific experience, I absolutely loved it. If your son's off doing other things, you can enjoy the Rainforest room, sit at the Cove Cafe with a nice cuppa, go to a martini tasting (or wine, if that's your preference), take a galley tour, see a movie. I found sooo much to do around the ship, that I was having to make decisions as to what to do!

They do have a single/solo meetups, however I poked my nose in and didn't see much of anything going on. There wasn't even really somebody there trying to organize it. I found it fun just talking to people around the ship, and ended up hanging out with a single father and his daughter for some one of the shore excursions.

Interaction btwn staff and patrons? Ummm...it depends on what kind of interaction you're talking about. If a CM isn't busy or on their way someplace else, they'll stop and talk to you. However anything more than that is pretty much frowned upon.

I am so excited. That sounds great. Thanks for the tips on hang out places on the ship!

Hi my name is Nicky and i will be on the Wonder on May17,2008. I will be alone. so your blog made me feel a lot better. thank you.

I did the 7 day western cruise solo, and had a blast.
I join in on the DIS cruise board and found the "who's going on date" and met many great Dis'ers which made it feel like I wasn't on the cruse alone, I have done 2 other cruise solo (not disney) and they were not as good and fun as the disney cruise.
You will have some many things to see/do you will always be busy.

Go and have a great time.
