I've been thinking about taking my DW and DDs to Lapland but I don't know which Tour Operator to use. Anyone been? Any info would be great. Where to stay or not to stay? What to do or not to do etc etc. It's one of those short expensive trips you don't really want to do wrong! So I thought I'd turn to my DIS friends for advice! :surfweb:

We did this 4 years ago and although it was loads of fun it was also freezing cold !! im not sure if this is the norm or not but we didnt stay in a hotel we only spent one day there and it was a long day !!
I noticed on Natalies Tr she said it was just above freezing - when we went it was seriously cold and my 2 yr old couldnt hack the cold at all!! me and dh had to take it in turns to sit with him by a log fire and the only activity he did was meeting santa!! If you have a young child I would seriously advise u to think if you are better leaving it for a year or two !! My 4 yr old was fine and loved every minute of it !!
The husky dog ride was a favourite with all of us !!
Im sorry I cant help with who we went with but I believe its something like semple travel???
The other thing I have to put is that just after we went they cancelled trips because of the weather being so bad so it was abnormally cold !! just our luck that :rotfl:
Ive just read this back to myself and it sounds really unpositive and its not meant to im just tryig to be honest! My kids loved it and it was defo an experience that im glad we did but I have to say unless someone assured me the weather wouldnt be so bad I wouldnt do it again - Just my opinion though!

I would love to go here too, but not sure about it. I have heard good and bad reports about it. Someone said it was far too over rated and not worth the money.I would like to see for myself though.

I do agree with pp about it being too cold for little ones and someone told me they wouldn't recommend it for under 3's

We planned to do it this coming christmas but our plan was to go for a few nights and try and squeeze in a visit to try and catch (if we were lucky) the northern lights (something DH and I have always wanted to do). We priced it up with Canterbury travel and for the three of us it was going to cost around £6000 for three nights:scared1: my two DD's will be 6 and a half and 4 years old at christmas. We decided not to book due to the cost, we have decided to put the money towards extending our house this year and a longer WDW trip next year:cool1:
We may book a day trip for Christmas 2010, we feel that sort of cost is really hard to justify for such a short trip.

We went when my girls were 4.5 and 6.5, I wouldn't go any younger as it really was cold, about -10 but friends who went the previous year had it at -30. We also booked with Canterbury travel, a 3 night, 4 day trip and it was perfect. The whole trip was fantastic and everything was included. Lots of tour operators do Lapland and are cheaper but they don't include all the food, excursions and clothing so make sure to price all of that up when you'redoing comparisons.

It really was a trip of a lifetime and even though it cost an absolute fortune I would certainly recommend it :thumbsup2
