Hi
On our first day in Orlando, because of the time difference, we are usually awake about 3am.
We usually eat breakfast at the Crystal Palace on this day, but I'm thinking of trying Chef Mickeys at 7am, as we are up so early.
Has anyone done the 7am seating? Was it busy? What was the character interaction like?

Thanks

Ruthie

yes I have and in my opinion I would stick with crystal palace or do chef micky's later on. At 7am they are not very cheerful and while the food is hot and good, I still prefer the food at CP and I"m not a breakfast person.

We have done it a few times, and we always have a good time. I have not found any difference in a really early CM or a really late CM breakfast. It might be a little less crowded early, which is a plus in my book. We get to the MK with plenty of time to spare for rope drop.

We had a 7 am reservations at CM in August 2008 and July 2009. Both times were not very crowded, food was good, character interaction fine. In 2008 we made it to HS by 9 and last year made EMH at MK shortly after 8.

I have done a 7:20 seating but was there at 7:10 and seated right away. There were about 20 families there already but not crowded (this is also in early January) and food was good, not crowded, never felt rushed with the characters at all. I highly recommend the early ressies (if your early risers) some of my best ADR were at Akershus right at opening 8:00 am and Chef Mickeys at 7:10 am.

My server was pretty grumpy and short with me at C.M. but everyone else seemed really friendly so i'm sure you'll have a great time

How is the dinner there? Was thinking about a late supper... :confused3

I've done early morning Chef Mickey's - if you're sold on going here, it's a good time to go. The place gets REALLY noisy the later it gets. That being said, I absolutely love Crystal Palace, so if you had the choice, that would be my pick. The MK is so quiet and pretty in the early AM, and I thought the food was better at CP than CM. Both are fun for kids, though, so I'm sure you'll have a good time at either one. :thumbsup2

We usually have Chef Mickey adrs between 7-7:30 am and have never had any problems at all. We've never had grumpy/poor/inattentive servers - we've actually had very good servers. We've also always had good character interaction there and never felt rushed at all. I don't think you can go wrong with either Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's for breakfast - we love them both and always do those breakfasts along with Ohana on our trips.

Hi all
thanks for all your help-only reason for CM is that we can get an ADR for 7am, last time we did CP we had the earliest time at 805am, but were really rushing to get to the rides. I thought if we did CM, we could maybe make rope drop.

Thanks

You could definitely make a 9AM rope drop if you do CM at 7AM! Just plan it on a day when MK does not have EMH for that morning (because it would open at 8AM if that was the case).

We did CM at 7AM last time. We loved it! We were done with breakfast at around 8AM, and did not feel rushed at all, even though there was a tour group who arrived at the same time we did (there were over 100 people in their group for sure!). Food was delicious, hot, and the restaurant was very clean. Character interaction was wonderful...some of them came to the table more than once. My older son got to participate in some of the little shows they do. The kids had a lot of fun and so did we. We did this breakfast on the final morning of our trip, and we were driving back to NY from FL and going all the way to NC that day, so we had to leave early. So we opted for CM since we thought it would be a nice ending to the trip, plus it opened so early. I highly recommend it!!

Hi
Thanks so much for all the advice. I've decided to book it!:thumbsup2

I think you'll be happy with your decision. We love the first seating at Chef Mickey's. The food is fresh and hot, and the character interaction has been amazing for us.

One year we did the first dinner seating and the first breakfast seating. there was no comparison, breakfast was much better.

We're doing dinner when it opens on our first evening at WDW this July. We wanted to try dinner, but I usually enjoy breakfast buffets more than dinner buffets. We're going for the character interaction for the kids...we'll be with my sister and her girls, but they will only be at WDW for 4 days and wanted to do one character breakfast...they chose the one at 1900 Park Fare because of the characters there, so we all decided to go to Chef Mickey's for dinner on the first night so we can get right into the whole Disney experience even though we're not going to a park that day. We figured it would be better to go when they first open because it should be nice and clean and the food should be fresh. I'm not expecting the best quality food in the world but I'm sure we will all find something we like...we're all mainly looking forward to the kids interact with the characters!

I wish you better luck than our October 2007 experience. :goodvibes

We went on my DS's 2hd birthday, and had very poor character interaction and service. Characters were rushed and barely stopped for photos. We were surprised since it was the first seating for dinner. Breakfast was much more fun and memorable. (even without the cupcake and place mat)

Hi
Thanks all.
I have to say I've had mixed experiences at Chef Mickeys.
There've been times when we've been totally rushed, and characters have barely stopped, but other times its been great!
I've never really had a great experience at the safari breakfast-but we go every trip!
