I am considering doing this. I am about 60 pounds overweight but I'm quite active. I do bootcamp workouts 3x/week, personal training 2x/week and run 2 miles 3-4 days/week. I'm a stress eater and generally an anxious person and someone mentioned Bikram as a great stress reliever.

I've done one yoga class in my life and it was hard (not Bikram).

If you do Bikram, did you start with that? Did it help you lose weight (an added bonus in my case)? How many days/week did you do it? What's your overall opinion of Bikram, good or bad?

Anyone do any yoga of any kind? How often and what are/were the benefits to you?

I do Hatha (alignment) yoga and occasionally a hot class. I prefer the Hatha, personally. If I'm not ridiculously well hydrated before a hot class, I get an insane headache after (like puts me out of commission for the rest of the day insane).

Yoga in general is definitely a good stress reliever! Weight loss isn't my goal, but I've noticed increased flexibility and strength from my practice.

Can't hurt to try it, right?

If you're going to do bikram be sure to bring a sweat towel and a beach towel to put over your mat. Also, I bring 2 bottles of water - one frozen, one not. By the end of class the frozen one is melted and is the perfect refreshing temperature!

ETA: I go once or twice a week

I used to do Bikram 2 - 3 times a week. It was a great stress reliever and I didn't do it for weight loss. My muscles appreciated the stretch in the warm/humid air and I found that it was a better way to do yoga than Hatha. The Bikram was great for relieving stress across my shoulders, which is where I carry my tension.

Like the other poster said, bring extra towels and water.

I love BIKRAM! I started in 2010 and did the 30 day challenge...makes me wish I could do it all the time like that, but unfortunately it doesn't fit in the schedule as much as I would like it to (prob once a week or every other week these days)

I kept a journal of my 30 days in my blog!!!
