Anyone buy from DVC via waiting list?

Just curious how long you were on that list. Seems to me it could take a good long time! Anyone done that?

I have not done this, but several posts indicate there are multiple waiting times depending on which resort the buyer is looking for, number of points, etc. I'm sure some other members will chime in with more info.

Two of our add-ons were through a waiting list with Disney. First one was for OKW - this took about two months. Second add-on we added to our BCV points and it was a spur of the month thing, after our last cruise ('03), we decided to say hello to our guide and we were joking around about BCV being sold out and before you know it she went to check and they had so many points (don't remember the # now) and we added 50 on the spot. Nothing planned or discusse prior. I have yet to try BCV.

I called my guide in December about adding on 50 pts at BWV (Dec. use year). At first she said they had the points but then they disappeared from her screen. She called me last Friday to say I got the 50 points so it was just about a month from call to call.

Hoping to save a few bucks, I had monitored the resellers, and got placed on their "lists" for a BWV October UY for months last summer/fall. Being the impatient person that I am, I called our guide who I had to wrangle to actually put me on the wait list rather than buy the current SSR offering. Of course he "hadn't seen any October BWV points for a long time" when we were placed on the wait list. Bottom line is we got the 200 points about 2 weeks later.

Variables include:

*Home resort
*Number of points you want
*Use Year you want / need
*Number of folks ahead of you on the waiting list (although I don't know how formal the "waiting list" might be)

Also note that there was a rumor posted within the last week indicating that DVC may raise the price to $94 per point for VWL, BCV and BWV points. If they do this, it will apply to all sales after the price increase, regardless of how long you may have been waiting for the points.

We waited less than one week for our BWV points to come through.

We waited a few months for VWL points...after about 3-4 months, we bought resale.

We have been on the waitlist for BCV points since early Dec. We are still on, but have also put in to buy a resale contract.

I called for more points at OKW expecting to be put on a waitlist and got them that day. Wasn't quite ready for that. But took them, of course!

Yeah, someone posted the other day that there are over 5,000 OKW points in the DVC system right now. We got our OKW points the same day as well.

All my BWV add ons took a month or less to come in (my last add on was in July I think). We have been on the waitlist for BCV since July. Still waiting.....

Maybe I should call my guide and make sure we are still on the list?

I spoke to my Disney guide today, and this is the first time that he mentioned that those points would have gone to members waiting to add on. I didn't know that, and apparently, the other guide who had left me that message wasn't aware of that. Hmmmm...miscommunication? Now, I'm wondering if I would have been able to follow through and buy those points had I decided to pursue it then.

Been on the wait list since November for 25 point BVC add-on. My guide seemed optomistic at the time but haven't heard a word since--still hoping

I got 150 December BCV points in July and 100 VWL points (December use year) in November. I just got on the waitlist for 30 VWL for either Dec. or Feb. use years. (I have 2 contracts).... I'm sure Byron will come through again

I have three use years, Feb, March, and August. I waited for a year, then I called and insisted on speaking with the manager of sales. I had heard thru this board that someone had only waited 2 months, and got points, in August. I was so mad!! When I called, I was offered points in March. There were 37 people waiting in Feb., 8 in August, no one in March, so I got an add-on in that use year. I have gotten three add-ons, always in March.
