Anyone Booked on April 15 2012 Dream

Does anyone know if new cruisers get lanyards from DCL on their first cruise?
I believe those of us who have cruised before are given one. I had read that we are unable to get the ones made with the date, ship & group name and have decided to get plain blue, since we don't need 100.
So not wanting to "rock the boat"... but wondering if we aren't getting customized ones (which our 3 families wanted as a souvenir), could we just have a button or pin w/ the Patriot Mickey to put on the DVC lanyards? (And yes, I'd be willing to help make that happen, if needed.)
Thoughts from the group?

Nope new cruisers dont get lanyards
I have the graphic we had all agreed on and can print/laminate it so its a hang tag on our lanyards, or I can print it much smaller and make pins, its up to the group!

One more thought about the list-is there a way to include if the name is boy or girl? Some names can be either -
Can we also have a plan B for those who don't make the meet-we usually are runing aroung snapping pics, unpacking befor diner,...

Also-just got cruise docs, now it seems real!

Great idea to clarify on spreadsheet. I noted that my Skyler is a boy and filled in for my sister's family with their age.
Wonder if mpetersen has picked out a name for their son?:goodvibes
Did Will's Dad ever register on the spreadsheet?
And will there be 2 FE's for stateroom 2028? Little confused if this is newmommy's family or if they are traveling with catman as it is listed on the sheet.
Can't wait for the 15th and the finalization of numbers!!! Looks like a great group!:grouphug:

I have picked a name but am very superstitious about sharing it or referring to the lil guy by it until he's born :goodvibes

I am FREAKING out! We were supposed to fly from Worcester on Direct Air....today they announced they have cancelled all flights until May....are you kidding me?? There are 10 of us going. We really can't afford another 3,000 for airfare (which is about what it would be to book at this point for the 4 in my immediate family), so our only other option is driving. I'm SO disappointed & frustrated!!

Oh my gosh, Irishone21 , I am so sorry!! That is awful! How can they do that? Will they help you reschedule with another airline or another airport??

Irishone21

We have driven many times from MA. Usually rent a van with unlimited mileage. It may turn out cheaper. If you have more than one driver can drive straight through. About 21 hours.

We are driving down for this cruise. Plan on driving straight through.

BVC- Unfortunately, they are no help whatsoever. They won't even answer their phones. Terrible! Where are you coming from? Pkoles- I know people do it all the time...that's what I lkeep telling myself. My kids are just at a stage right now where they get on each other's nerves constantly. The thought of 20+ hours in a car together....oy! Can you share your route down? Thanks!

We just take I-95 the whole way down. We usually leave at 2:30 in the morning and drive for about 15 hours the first day and then only have 6 to do the next day. We've been doing it since our kids were 5 and 3 so we are used to it now. The drive down isn't too bad because of the anticipation of the vacation. The drive back is a little more difficult . good luck...I hope things will work out for you.

Wow 20+ hours in a car and I thought our 10 hour plane journey was bad and I totaly argree the jorney going is soooo much easier than the one coming home.

My son is much better infact its like he was never sick (that's kids for you)

I like the idea about any FE changes and either turning up at the meet or updating the list hidden in the FE

@Newmommy_2010 Can you check your state room number as my parents recieved there cruise documents at the weekend and they seam to have the same room number as you :)

The thought of driving that far with too young ones wasn't appealing to me. So we are making the 3.5hr drive and flying out of a small airport in NY. They have direct flights to FL. I paid a little bit more because of a late booking but it was a lot cheaper than flying out of Mass or Albany.

I heard last night of the cancellations out of Worcester and my heart went out to all of you who are now stuck!

We are so on the fence about what to do. Really don't want to drive. I think it will start our vacation out on a stressful note......andreafrommass: what airport are you flying out of? We've been looking at flights out of jfk, buffalo, albany etc. It's def. cheaper than going out of Logan.

Over the last twenty years, I would estimate I have driven to Florida and back at least 15 times or more. When my kids were younger we would drive from Charlton to South of the Border stay overnight and drive the remainder the next day.
The last six or seven years we have driven straight through. The drive itself is 20 to 21 hours not counting food gas breaks. With my car I usually can make it on 3 full tanks of gas. I fully agree that the drive back is far worst.

There are two ways to drive down. The easiest and quickest way is 95 all the way. However the tolls can add up. The other way is route 84 throgh to route 83 in York PA and pick up 95 near Baltimore. No tolls but about an hour longer. This also lets you bypass GW Bridge and Jersey Turnpike.

If you drive I would highly recommend leaving enough time. We are planning to leave after my Grandson gets out of school on Friday. Drive straight through to Orlando. Figure we will arrive at about 5:00 in afternoon. Have room in Orlando through Priceline for Saturday night. You don't want to plan to arrive on Sunday.

irishone21 try Jet Blue out of Stewart Airport in Newburgh.

I was reading a thread on the need to secure the FE. How secure does it need to be?

Thank you everyone for the kind words and advice. I actually booked a new flight last night that leaves from JFK in NY and flies into Palm Beach. Then we rent a car & drive up to the port. Got a decent price also. Now, need to focus on the way home.

:cool1:

we are closing the Fe list as of midnight tonight. id like to also close the laynard tag list (or are we making pins?)

As for FE security that is up to the group.
