My Dw and I are leaving in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have ressies at the Coral Reef and wanted people's opinion on this restaurant. Any tips on food or tables?

We were there for lunch this past May, and had a table right up next to the glass! The food was great.

we were there for dinner in March. We have FABULOUS service... probably the best of the whole stay. We requested a tank side table and got one! The divers kept coming over and making faces at and interacting w/ us and the kids- it was very memorable. BUT, we were not as impressed w/ the food (at least DH wasn't with his steak... my salmon was good). But the kids meals are very good... DD4 loved her mini- make your own sundae dessert! It's a must do!

I love this resturaunt. My favorite appetizer is the creamy lobster soup (probably my favorite appetizer anywhere!).

Ate there in June of this year for the first time for a birthday dinner for my mom. We both had the Mahi Mahi and LOVED it. The service was great also. We had a 7:30pm ADR but it started to rain while we were there so we ended up going to restaurant about an hour earlier and they were able to seat us within 15 minutes.

ENJOY

DH and I ate at Coral Reef for the first time this past April, it was great! One of our new favourites, we are just sorry that we had never tried it before. I have booked it again for this October with my DD and her friend, can hardly wait to show them our new find! :goodvibes

We just ate at Coral Reef last week for the first time and had mixed feelings about it. We may have caught them on a bad night - our server said they have been swamped with people who had ADR's at Teppanyaki and were switched - but the service was really slow. Our ADR was for 6:20 but we weren't seated until 6:45 - this was a first for us as all the other restaurants were running true to time. Once we were seated the drinks and appetizers came quickly but we waited a long time for our entree and dessert. The food was OK - the lobster soup was really good but the rest of the meal was mediocre. I do have to say the Citrus Creme Brulee was yummy!

I'm not sure we would have tried it if we weren't on the DDP - I think the cost of the meal for myself, DH, DS (13) and DD (6) was $144.00 - I'm not sure the portions and quality would live up to that price. The atmosphere can't be beat though - the kids loved watching the fish in the aquarium!

We ate there on Sunday 8/19. We had a great meal on DDP. I agree, I am not sure I would go there if paying out of pocket, but I think it's excellent use of DDP.

Our server offered us specialty drinks as beverages and I had the Sour Apple Freeze which was really yummy. The others had regular soft drinks.

We had the crab claw salad, cod cake, and salad for appetizers (we sampled what everyone else had). I would order the cod cake again and the salad if I felt like salad. I would not get the crab claw salad. Nothing wrong with it but it was just OK.

We had shrimp pasta, tuna, and mahi mahi. (We don't eat red meat or chicken.) I thought the tuna was fantastically delicious. It was medium rare and the sauce was so good. The shrimp pasta was very good. The shrimp were not overdone at all. The mahi mahi I didn't really care for, especially in comparison to the tuna. I found it pretty blah but luckily DH loved it. (We had the mahi mahi at Kona also and I loved that. I guess they just flavored it differently, and I like the mashed potato accompaniment at Kona better than the Israeli couscous at Coral Reef.)

For desserts we had the creme brulee (ever since High School Musical my DDs have wanted to try this dessert!), cheesecake and the chocolate wave. I didn't try the cheesecake but DD seemed to enjoy it. The creme brulee and chocolate wave were both excellent and I would order either depending on what I was in the mood for, or order both for the table and have some of each! The chocolate wave comes with brandied cherries. I tried one and wished I hadn't. It was really saturated in alcohol-- I can see that this could be a plus for some people, but I did not care for it.

There were people waiting in the lobby but we were taken back within minutes of checking in (we were running a bit late and checked in probably a couple of minutes past our 6:10 ADR time rather than 10 or so minutes early which I think is recommended.) I found the restaurant QUITE loud, and as our table was a semi-circle (the better to see the tank), it was hard for DH and myself who were seated on the edges 180 degrees apart to hear each other.

DH and I had lunch at Coral Reef last Tuesday. We had to wait a few minutes past our ADR time, but that was okay because we were enjoying the air conditioning! We were seated by the tank without asking, and there weren't any kids crowding up next to us to see the tank, as I have read others sometimes reporting. Service was just fine.

We both had the lobster bisque and really enjoyed it. I had the blackened catfish and it was one of the food highlights of the trip. My DH had the steak and had no complaints. We both also enjoyed the very rich chocolate wave dessert, but did not eat the brandied cherries (yuk!).

We ate lunch there two weeks ago and really enjoyed our meal. You can read a full report in my dining report. See my signature for the link.

Have a wonderful trip!

We ate here 8/21 for the first time. We loved it. We were on DDP. Spent $180 for family of 4. The diver came down to wish me and dh happy 20th anniversary and my son 10th birthday. They even made us menues. This was the high light of our trip. Everything was good.

We had a great meal at CR last year. We got to sit right next to the tank and my DS's loved it. I can't wait to go again on our upcoming trip!:thumbsup2

We ate at Coral Reef just two weeks ago. I had the strawberry pina colada as well as my DD 14 as my beverage!! YUM! DH had a Coke. For apps we had the steak and shrimp, the shrimp was good, the steak on a stick ok! My DD had the fried calamari and she loved it....she is so adventurous! DH had the lobster soup, and love that as well! For entrees I had the steak with Au Gratin potatos, YUM...and cooked to perfection (medium) DD had the chicken with Jasmine Rice and I didnt think she would like the rice as Jasmine is a strong spice, but she loved it as well! DH had the mahi mahi and also said it was his favorite meal! Dessert, I had the chocolate wave AWESOME! DD had the cheesecake and DH had the creme brulee...all was perfect!! For the three of us on the plan....$170...cost for us...zippo!! We also had teh semi circle table...as we met some other family members for dinner....the table looked right at the aquarium...which was also nice!! We had a great time and would do it again tomorrow...if we could!!!:rotfl2:

It's been awhile since we ate there; and when we did, we didn't like the food at all. BUT...there are loads of positive reviews on this restaurant that I want to try it again. They must have improved.

This restaurant is a must do for DH and I. Try the lobster tomato soup, it turned DH and I into lobster bisque lovers.

We ate there for the first time last year...we had made ADR, and did have to wait a little bit before we were seated. That's ok though, the food and ambience totally made up for it. We went the week of my birthday and I was given a menu with "Happy Birthday" on it which was kinda neat. We've been talking about how fabulous it was all year, and that is the only restaurant we've decided we had to do again this year!!

Unfortunately, when I called to make my ressie this morning, they were already booked on my birthday!!! Bummer :sad2:

We ate at the Coral Reef for our 9th anniversary in May. I had called ahead for a diver sign. We were seated about 10 minutes after our ADR time. We were seated on the first floor, but not up close to the tank. Then the diver sign never came until I had to go up and ask about it and then DH knew something was up. But it did finally come. The food was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, but still pretty good. The kids liked the tanks and divers. It is a very dark restaurant and very loud too. And VERY expensive!!!!! We would have never paid that much to eat there if we hadn't been on the DDP.

Overall it was pretty good, but I think we are going to try Le Cellier next time instead.

We just ate dinner there between Aug 15-24, and it was great ! Our CM's name was Mulan and she was great ! Food was great, it was very busy (we made ADR's 180 out ), and we sat right in the middle. My petite DD (10) could see the aquarium perfectly. There were many divers in the tank the night we were there. I think the only seats that it is hard to see the tank are the ones in the last 2 rows. Ask for a seat closer to the tank, it can't hurt ! Good luck !! :thumbsup2

We ate there on Monday 8/13, had an ADR @ 4:30 for 11 ppl and were seated at 4:45. I had arranged for a personal menu for my nephew's 9th birthday, the staff was wonderful to my nephew and really made him feel special. I had the cod cakes, seared tuna (you have to get this!) and cheesecake for dessert. My DD (20) had mahi-mahi and DS (17) had NY sirlion. The food was fabulous I would love to eat there again if I was on the dining plan. The total cost for the 3 of us was $176. :rotfl2:
