We ate there on Sunday 8/19. We had a great meal on
DDP. I agree, I am not sure I would go there if paying out of pocket, but I think it's excellent use of DDP.
Our server offered us specialty drinks as beverages and I had the Sour Apple Freeze which was really yummy. The others had regular soft drinks.
We had the crab claw salad, cod cake, and salad for appetizers (we sampled what everyone else had). I would order the cod cake again and the salad if I felt like salad. I would not get the crab claw salad. Nothing wrong with it but it was just OK.
We had shrimp pasta, tuna, and mahi mahi. (We don't eat red meat or chicken.) I thought the tuna was fantastically delicious. It was medium rare and the sauce was so good. The shrimp pasta was very good. The shrimp were not overdone at all. The mahi mahi I didn't really care for, especially in comparison to the tuna. I found it pretty blah but luckily DH loved it. (We had the mahi mahi at Kona also and I loved that. I guess they just flavored it differently, and I like the mashed potato accompaniment at Kona better than the Israeli couscous at Coral Reef.)
For desserts we had the creme brulee (ever since High School Musical my DDs have wanted to try this dessert!), cheesecake and the chocolate wave. I didn't try the cheesecake but DD seemed to enjoy it. The creme brulee and chocolate wave were both excellent and I would order either depending on what I was in the mood for, or order both for the table and have some of each! The chocolate wave comes with brandied cherries. I tried one and wished I hadn't. It was really saturated in alcohol-- I can see that this could be a plus for some people, but I did not care for it.
There were people waiting in the lobby but we were taken back within minutes of checking in (we were running a bit late and checked in probably a couple of minutes past our 6:10 ADR time rather than 10 or so minutes early which I think is recommended.) I found the restaurant QUITE loud, and as our table was a semi-circle (the better to see the tank), it was hard for DH and myself who were seated on the edges 180 degrees apart to hear each other.
