We are going with my cousin and his wife in Dec. and one of the places they wanted to eat was Planet Hollywood. We ate there about 3 years ago and we enjoyed it. I was wondering what some reviews were from others who have been there lately. Thanks Ron.

I've eaten there a couple times and have had bad luck - bad food, and a waitress who asked me where I was from when I complained - So I say, "Virginia" and she says, "oh, well, this is just a different style than what you're used to." Like I'm some hick who never travels and eats roadkill. I mean chicken is chicken and this was bad. Room temperature chicken on greens -blick.

Anyhow - the atmosphere is cool, the food has been iffy in my opinion, and not worth the money, even with the AP discount.

Just get drinks or dessert and enjoy the theming.

It is on our list of "not to do"

Too loud and crowdwd and food is mediocre.

We went in January to DD and decided to eat there. BIG MISTAKE, HUGE. It was AWFUL. Our waiter was not to be found. He never filled our glasses. We had 4 adults, 4 kids and maybe that is why. But still, being anywhere near disney, he should be used to that and more. The food was way too expensive and it was awful. How can you mess up a turkey sandwich? I know the kids got chicken fingers and they hardly ate them. The fries that came with them were cold. I forget what everyone else had. But there comments were the same. YUCK. We were so disgusted AND frustrated. We just wanted our bill so we could leave. We had to track him down for that as well.

We've been there three or four times, the last time in July. The food was good on our first trip and completely awful on all subsequent trips. The hamburgers are your best bet, and those are only adequate.

One other thing -- if you go, DO NOT let them sit you on the first floor. Do anything you have to -- wait 90 minutes -- but make sure you are seated on the 2nd or 3rd floors. The tables on the 1st floor are so close to each other, other people's food often flies onto your table just in the normal course of things. Waiters are given about 15 inches of space in the aisles between tables, and they are constantly bumping you, your chair or your table as they circulate through the dining room. It's simply unaccaptable. My son and I are very small people -- we were NOT taking up extra aisle space at all -- and we had a waiter's derrier in our faces through about 85% of the meal. Literally suspended in the air space over our table, there is THAT little space between tables. Ick. Just a few words of advice.

We were there two weeks ago!! It was awful, I sent my food back. The salad was brown and warm, the appetizer was "old" I think it may have been sitting out for a long time. And our main course (chicken) was not cooked all the way. The atmosphere is ok, I still think Rainforest is more fun. I would NOT eat at this place again. There were quite a few people on the boat back to Riverside that was complaining about their meals at Planet Hollywood as well.

The first few years they were open we thought they were great. Unfortunately, in my opinion, they started going down hill. We went in December and found both food and service poor. That's it for us.

We went in March and the food was just ok. I would say skip it.

We ate there in Sept. Our waitress was great and the food was good. I had a bacon cheeseburger, it was good. Everyone in our party had something different and we all liked it. And I used my Dc for a 10% disc. We would eat there again.

This I still don't understand...we have been eating there since it opened..we have always had great food and service. We have also met many stars while we were there.

Our most recent visit was a week ago...three visits in the past three months. The new menu items are wonderful.

The cobb salad beats the heck out of the one over at the Brown Derby in MGM...the new LA lasagna is excellent. The burgers have always been great...although my favorite disney burger is over at House of blues.

We won't go back to planet hollywood! Bad, bad, bad!

we ate there on a last minute decision in sept...we enjoyed it! i had the chicken fingers and some fries and hubby had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich...both were good...service was good...i think that it's a hit and miss with the quality of the food and the service...

I think that Planet Hollywood reminds me of Applebee's...Ruby Tuesdays, etc....
Everytime I have been there the food has been cold :(
I don't think its worth it

Wow, we must be very lucky everytime we go...the place is always packed...and everyone is commenting on the good food.

Wierd.

Thanks for all the reviews good or bad. We will be giving it a try on Dec. 11 our first night at WdW on this trip.

If you have never been to a Planet Hollywood - it is a fun experince. I don't think you necessarily go there for the food (although try the chicken crunch) it is more for the atmosphere. The lines can get pretty long, especially on a weekend. Have fun!

A close relative of mine was the Eastern regional General Manager and before that the manager of the NY Planet Hollywood. All he did the last year he worked there was close down Planet Hollywoods. He is no longer with them. Planet Hollywood has always been near the bottom of the list of the 10 worst restaurants at WDW and for good reason. Need I say more.

BTW, what ARE the chicken strips like?? I love Cap'n Crunch cereal, and was wondering if the coating tastes anything like it??

Thanx

Jules

Hi Jules,

Planet Hollywood's Chicken Crunch basically is chicken strips breaded with finely ground Captain Crunch ceral and then deep fried. They serve them with a special dipping sauce - maybe honey mustard?? The chicken has a sweet taste that is quite good. I think the appetizer is on of their "signature" dishes that can be found in almost any Plant Hollywood restaurant. I was just in Toronto over the weekend and saw them on the menu.

Gee, with all that's been written on this thread about the poor service, mediocre food, and crowded conditions & now the "sweat"-flavoured chicken as a signature dish I guess we'll skip this restaurant even with our DC discount!!!LOL!

I think we'll skip visiting the one closest to us too -- in Toronto.

"Sweat" taste -- I couldn't suppress a giggle!:jester:
