What is he doing in Juneau?
The flight is 2 hours from Seattle or Anchorage. It will be cooler then Texas but not deathly cold. It is a wet cold though in Southeast Alaska.
I was born in Petersburg and grew up in Fairbanks, Skagway and Juneau. I lived in Juneau from 1989 to 2004. I really miss it a lot.
My parents are in Skagway as is most of my family, but they still own their house in Juneau.
I loved to go to the glacier, up the tram, drive out the road, if he has a day off take a ferry ride. You could go up to Skagway and back over a weekend. You could go to Whitehorse in Canada. That is a beautiful 2 hour drive!
This time of year it will be getting chilly but snow normally won't hit until mid-late Nov and doesn't stick. Make sure to take some warm clothes. Not a parka but a decent winter jacket. SE Alaska weather is a lot like Seattle. Rarely goes below zero and never before January.
I use to do the unemployment stats (well *I* didn't do them but assisted in gathering data) and one year Texas was colder then most of Alaska. I want to say it was Dallas I called in late November, they had snow and Alaska was in the low 50's LOL.
Make sure you take a camera! Give it a chance

It isn't a bad place! I really miss it. I do not miss being secluded but overall I miss it.
