As a fan of "old-fashioned" amusement parks, I'd like to hear your opinion of Indiana Beach Amusement Park, if you've ever been.

We just love the relaxed atmosphere found in parks such as Knoebels, Lake Winnie, etc.

What would be considered a "long wait" to ride the coasters at IB?

We visited Knoebels on a week-day in early summer, got to ride the Phabulous Phoenix with at the most a one train wait...coaster heaven!

I went there with my family back in 1991. I remember it being a pretty fun day but honestly I can't give you any specifics. I was probably more enamored with a few of the teenage boys there than I was with anything else. :p

I've been once- about 2 years ago. I can't give a typical wait for the coasters, but the day we were there, the lines weren't bad (10 mins, maybe). I don't know how common that is. What I remember the most was the catfish- there's a spot where you can buy food (like in a petting zoo) and throw it in the water that is teeming with fish. It's disturbing. They're climbing all over each other.
I liked it, and i definately want to go back before I move home to Mass.

We go there every year and the website is more impressive than the park. It's just close to home and easy to navigate. The park is being re-invented over the past decade and is improving. The water park is the biggest attraction. They tend to hire college kids or young adults as ride attendants and they are often more interested in the girls running around the park than in making your experience a positive one.

It's cute but you can do it all in a day. Half of the park is the water park. The Sky Coaster used to be a separate charge (bungee-type flying) and the park has one big "drop-type" ride, lots of carnival-type rides, and the 'coasters. Go during the week and you won't have many waits at all, especially in June. Usually about 5 minutes. Jluly is a popular time for church or group day-trips, usually after the Little League season is over.

I've never been to Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana but it looks great. It also routinely makes the Travel Channel's best lists for cleanliness & 2 great, old-fashioned coasters. I want to go this summer.

Are you planning on coming up from Florida? If so, PM or email me if you want any specific lodging or travel recommendations.

I may be up this summer, but I've heard it's a great park. It's got a bunch of rides on an area of land the size of a postage stamp. I think you can do everything in about 5 hours.

If you're an ACE member, you get 50% off a pay one price armband. I think the armband normally costs around $17.

It is really an "old tyme" kind of park. My parents take my kids there every year and they really seem to enjoy it. I went a few years ago and was really dissapointed. You pay like a couple of bucks to get in and then you can buy single ride tickets or an arm band. I like Holiday World in Santa Claus Indiana much better. I think its so much cleaner and its really a lot cheaper when you consider that fact that your soft drinks are free all day.
