Im looking at booking this as a surprise for DH's birthday but ive never been before?!

Whats it like? Whats included and what is the accomodation like?

Im looking at Elveden forest probably :)

I've been 5 times, 3 of those at christmas. I've been to Elveden, Longleat and Oasis in Lake District. They are really nice the villas are quite nice, not luxurious but far from basic. If it's just the 2 of you I think you can stay in a hotel at Elveden. The villas are all set in the forest and we saw lots of wildlife including muncjack (sp) deer! The only thing included is swimming, but the pools are good with lots of slides(not a BB though :rotfl2: ) There is a great spa. There are loads of activities to do but you must book them as they get booked up very quickly.

We love it but I'm not sure I would go there with out kids, may find an adult only place.

Fantastic!!, we've been to the one at the Lake District at least 14 times, 1st time when our DD was just 4mths old,( now she's 8 with a 6yr old sister). Loads to do if you want to....., but don't go in school holidays as the prices go up dramatically:scared1: , and it get's really really busy. But we still love it, almost as much as WDW:love:

Hi,
We've been to Sherwood twice and think it's great. We were there both in the summer and winter, and both has plus points. Did Penrith once but as its less than an hour from where I'm originally from (whitehaven) it didn't really feel like a holiday! ha ha! We also found it much more hilly and the kids struggled with bikes as they were small at the time.
However, I know a lot of people prefer Penrith to Sherwood as there can be more activities going on.

Before you book, trawl the web for discount codes, you might be lucky and find one.

I know Im in the minority, as the rest of Britain seems to love Centre Parcs (and to be fair my kids loved it) but me and DH hated it!

Our main gripe was the accomodation - ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Totally gross - like living in an outside toilet. Damp, mouldy walls, torn furniture, tiny rooms. Horrid. Ive been told that the "executive" accomodation is fine, but when I costed that recently it came at over £1K for a WEEKEND!!!!

Second, everything extra costs big bucks - except the pool which was so packed jammed solid the kids were scared to use it. They kept getting pushed off the slides by older children and you couldnt "swim" because of the amount of people in the pool. We thought £6 to hire a badminton court for 30 mins was ridiculous.

The car parking was a joke, the shops shut at 7pm so if you ran out of anything - tough. The food was expensive and very poor (with the exception of the Indian restaurant which we liked). DH was mown down twice by lunatics on bikes and We also saw one stupid woman knock a toddler over because she was going too fast and chatting to her family behind.

The only thing we did rate were the staff - obviously all students, they did their best with everything and you always got a smile.

I couldnt bear to stay in one of their minging "villas" ever again, even though the kids pester us endlessly to take them back!

Sorry, nil points from us. Oh and it was Eleveden we stayed at.

We had a lovely holiday last summer at Center Parcs, but we went to Holland as it was cheaper than UK including the ferry crossing!

Just remembered if you do choose to go join their e-mailing list now and offers will be sent to you, sometimes for up to a third off.

It always seems sooooo expensive when I check it out :confused3

we have been loads of times to all of them except Elvedon. As we have been so many times we must have liked it once but we would not go again well at least for a long time.

If you go off peak it may be a lot better as we have been at New Year the last few times. The one in the lake district has much the better accommodation.

DH thinks they are a rip off as nothing is included but the pool and if you do not want to walk for miles you have to pay extra. If you want towels you have to pay extra if you want a villa next to a friend you have pay extra.

However it is very pretty if you like forests and makes a change. Let us know what you decide and have a great time what ever you do
