My DBF & I decided to head over there on Friday afternoon just to see what it was all about. We were both SHOCKED at how deserted & quiet it was! It was like we had the whole resort to ourselves, which was really nice! There were some black sheets up on the top floors of the resorts & we heard just the tiniest bit of what I think was construction noise. Not bad at all near the lobby.
The only other thing we wondered is if they had transferred some of the animals over to AK. We've never been over to AKL but the savannah did seem kinda empty...maybe it was just because of the intense heat & the animals were laying low! Either way, the resort was gorgeous, the pool looked refreshing, the CMs were friendly & the Zebra Domes we bought at the Mara were DELICIOUS! Have a great time!

When is AKL supposed to be up and running at full capacity again?

We just returned. Had the first 5 nights of our AKL vacation stolen from us by Disney for no reason, we arrived at AKL on day 6, saw lots of animals from our savanna view room. At one point I took a pic of 11 animals visible from our balcony on Zebra trail room 2551. The pool was hardly empty, we were there Thursday afternoon and Friday evening. Buses to and from the resort were never full, that was nice. We did see the black curtains a PP mentioned, but other than that we saw and heard NO SIGNS OF CONSTRUCTION!!!
