Huge recent discussion HERE.

Not much changed at all with the ride or the ride vehicles.

Many were disappointed that nothing really changed.
Some were happy that they didn't change it.

Only things I really noticed was the new video games while you wait in line and the lights were dark enough that I did not see all the bars inside the ride like last time. Last time I went on space mountain the lights were up enough I could see the cross supports through out the ride. All I could do was duck down as low as possible. Totally freaked me out.

I rode SM in 1980 & 1985 and thought it was great. I don't go for the bigger or loopier coasters. Just rode it for my LAST time on Dec. 2. Perhaps the combination of being 25 years older and being seated in the very last position of a section of cars was what caused the mild whip lash that I experienced during the largest jerk of the ride. After two weeks of taking pain medication I was finally back to normal. Thank goodness it did not hurt enough to ruin our trip since that was our first full day there.

Summer visitors will appreciate the indoor queue area. We rode using FP so we did not get to play the interactive games that help the time pass for those in the standby line. A large Buzz Lightyear is part of the display after the ride.

It's darker and the projections of the stars have been improved. Other than that you will find no difference in the ride itself.

We rode it twice, back to back, the first week of Dec. One thing I noticed that I really liked, was that the line itself is more lit up. Before with glasses that darken in the light, I almost was afraid I wasn't going to see my way when we first went in before the change. They were closed just previous to our first ride due to technical difficulties. So our first ride had some of the lights on inside.... not sure why. The second ride was dark. They have updated some of the scenes on your way to the exit. The actual ride seemed the same

I think they did a really nice job with Space Mountain. As others have noted, one of the major changes was making everything darker - and it really worked! Even riding in the very front, I often couldn't make out the track, something you used to be able to do. I think they did a great job balancing the update and staying true to the original.

My neck hurt this last time just like it did every other time I rode Space Mountain ... so no change.
