The chances of me doing this are very slim. I am talking 5% or less. However, every time I run my 5K route (illegally through a local ressi) I think to my self that more people just have to see the beauty of this place. The first thing I would have to do is get permisson from the local water company which may be tough. Assuming that I did that, how much other BS is involved in pulling off a race.

The first reason is the beauty (and frankly it pisses me off that it's off limits)and the other is that my town is one of 7 or 8 in the state of CT that does not have an annual race. There is a group of people who want to run a race in every town and they would love me.

How hard is it?

I am Race Director for 9 races a year ranging from 5K to a marathon to a 100K. They are in many venues fro County Parks, to State Parks, to Federal Forest Lands. All races possess different challenges as they all want different tings at different times. One race it took 2 years before a permit would be approved. Go with the flow and keep your chin up.

Until you RD, you can't understand all the work that goes on. It is very easy to send a payment for $125 but not appreciate the work behind the scenes.

You may be able to enlist the help of a sports club in the area. There are 3 in the Cleveland area that would put on a race for you if you don't think you have the time/patience/insert criteria here to direct it yourself. Of course they will take a cut of the action for their services.

If there are local charities that are willing to split the work in return for some proceeds you might be able to spread the work out a bit that way. Many charities have a fund raising coordinator that may have some experience you find useful.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. Like I said, I am not sure that I have the personality to pull it off but it would be cool. Thanks for the ideas.
