I was hoping someone that is there now can take some pictures of the gift shop for me. I think we may arrange some sort of Welcome basket but I would like to see what they have first. If you could help that would be great! Thanks

If you go to the HOJO website they have a video where they take a peek at what's in the gift shop. :)

Thanks! :) I totally forgot about that.. It's still really hard to pick stuff for a basket that you don't know if they have or not. UGH! lol Hopefully someone there now could take a few pics for me.

So they have the basics...milk, little cartons of cereal, postcards, fruit and then other gift type items. T-shirts, hats, flip flops, I think I even saw umbrellas last time I was there. However, they are super pricey and definately NOT as cute as Disney items.

I'm not quite sure on what or who this basket is for but I would strongly suggest that you consider ordering from Vons (or stopping if you have a car). You can get fresh flowers, fruit, snacks, bakery items etc and right now delivery charges are free. If you wanted to add Disney items like tshirts, autograph books etc, then maybe a stop at Downtown Disney would be in order??

My other suggestion is that you can always mail or pack your gift/welcome basket with you. I always put together something special for DS from Mickey (of course!) and I will usually pack in my suitcase or mail it to the hotel ahead of time.:thumbsup2

I've even ordered directly from the DisneyStore and added on the gift wrap and a personal message (again from Mickey) and had it mailed to the hotel.:goodvibes

When I talked to them they said they had Disney products.. Like there autograph books.. 3.95 w/o a pen or 6.95 with a pen.. which it what I would assume it is in DL. She said they can do it all custom. I just thought it might be a nice surprise for my nieces and DD to arrive to something neat like that. It would be things we would probably get in DL anyways.. so I figured why not. But kinda wanted to see a picture of the gift shop prior.. IDK.. we will see I guess

I'm assuming by "disney products" they mean items that have Disney characters on them. They didn't appear to be actual Disney products, just knock offs. You know...like Disney stuff at Walmart. It's Disney but it's not, make sense??:confused3 Personally, it doesn't make a huge difference to me but for some folks it might.

Price wise...all I can tell you is that when I walked into the gift shop, I walked right back out because prices were way too high. I looked at several items and thought, "geez, I can get this way cheaper". So I did....

well that is disappointing.

Why?? The HoJo is not a Disney property, any product they would sell would be similar to Disney items you'd find at other non Disney stores *they can be cute, often are. I say put something together before hand and either bring it with you or mail it.

The gift store is wonderful! There is a HUGE variety of candy bars, chips, corn chips, cheetos, chex mix, individually packaged cookies, gum, candy, small cereal boxes, hot chocolate mixes (for Keurig machines in room), individual containers of ice cream such as chunky monkey, all sorts of soda, then for merchandise there are plastic sno globes, inexpensive keychains, also inexpensive, rings, necklaces, little purses, and more! T-shirts are no more expensive than in Disney. I was able to purchase a cute porcelain Disney dog (Flirtatious Peg) from Lady and the Tramp for my daughter as a secret when we were there in Sept. It kept catching her eye, so we bought it and gave it to her for Christmas, it was her most cherished gift. The dog was $24.95 minus an AP discount of 10% I think, but it IS real Disney merchandise and I suspect all of it in the store is authentic. It didn't remind me of dollar store Disney items. I posted a photo of our cute find, next to a soda can for size comparison; there were other ones there, too, of various characters.

When I talked to the lady she led me to believe it was the same merch that I would see at the park. The problem is this is a last minute thing now. I wasn't planing on doing anything like this. But I read a lot on here about it and wanted to find out more. The lady had me pretty well convinced to do it. And the price was REALLY reasonable. By the time I were to order from The Disney Store, pay for fast shipping, then arrange everything, then pay for more shipping to the hotel it would be cheaper to do it through the hotel and have it IN the room when we arrive.
