I have been buying my little guy (will be 20 months old) some little cheap toys and books to keep him entertained on the plane ride down and while we are in the room getting ready in the mornings, etc. They won't be anything expensive or big, but there are some fun little things - magnetic letters, some toy cars, some neat books, puzzels, etc. Most of it has come from the dollar store, so it's no great investment. He has TONS of stuff at home, but I wanted him to have some new things for the trip, since I thought they might hold his attention longer. Anyway, I don't really want to bring all that stuff home with me and add it to our huge collection at home, so I was thinking of finding someone with a child about the same age and handing it off. Any takers? You could either then keep it or pass it on again. (Oh, and I am going to keep a few new things separate for the plane ride home.) Just let me know if you are interested.

I'm not interested, (my youngest is 7), but what a good idea!

I wish I had thought of it last August. We had some beach toys and pool floaties I brought with us (from Target's clearance sales) that I brought with us, but didn't have room to take home. I would have loved to pass them on to somebody.

I'll remember it for next time.

So far, I haven't got any takers. I'd like to say that I'm really trying to help my fellow man, but honestly, I just want to make sure I have room in the suitcase for all the new stuff I'm no doubt going to buy while I'm there. :p

If you don't find a child with a matching age, our 5yo handicapped child would probably enjoy them. He plays with his "baby toys" all the time, but his Dad discourages me from buying more. Cars are his FAVORITE!

We'll be arriving in Orlando 12/18, but likely late at night since we are driving down. The resort would probably hold them for pickup the next day. We'll be staying off site, but driving by would be no problem. I plan to visit the resort anyway to check out the holiday decorations.

I love the resorts that have storage bins for donated beach toys and chairs. We always wind up contributing a few things that we don't want to take home with us. It's fun to have the new toys others have left to play with all week.

Feel free to let someone else have your toys, but keep us in mind if you don't find anyone.

Thanks,

Sheila

We won't be there either, but it's a great idea. One year I brought 3 packages of juice boxes. At the end of our trip I still had 2 packages left. I went into the lobby at AKL and waited to see a family that might be able to use them. I soon found a cute little girl and her family that were checking- in, I offered them the packages and they were very greatful. Maybe you could do something that. I'm sure it would make someone very happy:hyper:

What a great idea. I wish mine were still small enough to use them. I carry crayons in my purse for my kids. One day in the drs. office a little girl was upset at the long wait as her dr. was in surgery. I pulled a package of those out and got some paper from the front desk. Let's just say Mom was really grateful! I am sure someone will want them once they see your very kind offer.

Sheila,

I would be very happy to leave them at the Grand Floridian for your little boy, if you think he would enjoy them. Honestly, I don't know if they would be worth driving from off-site to pick up, though. That's why I was looking for someone who was staying there. If you are going to visit the GF anyway, though, it might be worth it.

Right now I've just got some cute board books, a few puzzels, some magnetic letters, a magnetic drawing pad, a few cars, and a few other little things.

However, if you want them, I would be happy to let you have them! Just let me know if you do, and we can work it out. They aren't much, but I would still like to see them go to somebody who might get some joy out of them.

This really is great - it's too bad we're at a different resort, or we'd love to hop on this "toy train" :)
We'll have 3 little ones 13 mos-3 yrs from the 26th to the 30th, if anyone else has the same idea.
Wonderful thinking!

Thanks for the offer. I'll send you a PM. If someone more appropriate happens along, just drop me an email so I won't be looking for them.

One of our favorite things at the holidays is to look at all of the different resorts. Since we stay off-site, we usually hit one each evening, sometimes for a meal. The Wilderness Lodge is my favorite, but we try to hit all the major resorts. Great family photos in front of the various trees.

This time our PAPs will run out three days before we leave Orlando, so we have made a long list of things to do for the three days (about a week's worth, at least!).
