Anyone already post that paper FP will be gone at MK as of 1/14?

We have been going to Disney regularly but all these changes make my head hurt.

After all these ADRs / FP+ / an itinerary that has turned my vacation into a series of appointments, I'm looking forward to my next trip being a nice relaxing vacation in the Caribbean until all this stuff settles down! Makes me super sad but what else can you do?

Man, where do I sign up for some of this magic? Time to schedule another trip! ;)
Lol. I'm actually very surprised at how bad this is turning out to be. I had hoped that the things that make it not optimal for my family e.g., only 3 per day, only one park and tiering would somehow be tweaked to make fpp more palatable. But that's so not the case. In the end for me it comes down to more money for less than I was able to do before. The idea of park hopping which we do every day, and not being allowed to access fpp is maddening and punitive IMO. We do pay extra to park hop after all.

Never thought anything, anything could make me lose my desire to vacation at wdw but this really has.
Can't imagine that's what Disney had in mind.

Completely agree. It is not even close to enough. I think you should be able to make to 6. 2 of each tier

There are no tiers in MK. Also, there are only 2 tiers in the parks that have them, making a total of 4 not 6.

Either way, allowing more than one selection from tier 1 totally defeats the purpose of the tiers. There aren't enough headliners in DHS and Epcot to allow everybody to get a FP+ to 2 of them. That's why the tiers exist. Almost everybody would pick TT/Soarin and TSMM/RnRC if they could. They need more attractions before they can open up the tiers, unless they're opening it to a select group for a price.

Crap I was basing my planning on the "official" thread I found here.(http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3177863&referrerid=91799) -Does anyone know if this is accurate?

I agree, AK, HS and Epcot, don't really warrant additional fast passes.

But I do think that multiple selections should happen is in MK. It has the most "thrill" rides in one place, that most want to do.

I think in the long run we'll all adjust to the new system and people will find ways to maximize it. I really hope they don't start selling FP+ or doing resort tiering, but as many of the rumors have come true, it's very likely I think.

I feel for those that planned trips months ago and are arriving during all of these changes. To have a plan of things to do, places to go, etc and then have a bunch of it changed at the last minute.

I'm not sure there is a better way to make the change, as some will be affected any way you slice it, but it's definitely unfortunate for those that had plans months/years back and are now being forced to adjust on the fly.

When we went in August we pulled 6 FP- at MK, but that included the disconnected FP- as well. I'm curious to see what the standby times are after FP- goes away.

Good luck to all that will be there in the upcoming weeks.

Could be--or by waiting I might lose the opportunity to get an attraction and/or time we want. I'm so excited to play "FP+ Kiosk Roulette" and find out.

Actually, there will be lots of kiosks and lots of friendly CMs with iPads waiting to help you. With the exception of Christmas/New Years week, all reports from AK were that it was quick and easy for off-site guests to make FP+ selections, and that there was lots of availability. I'm betting you will be fine.

But maybe it's more fun to ***** and moan? If so, don't let my optimism get in the way of your fun. :duck:

I predict the following after full roll-out:

1. There will be different FP+ limits for each park. AK may still have 3, but I'm betting MK has more. I know when we tested, we had a "bonus" FP+.

2. On-site guests will be able to reserve 3 FP+ at each park, with tiered selections at Epcot and DHS, but will also be able to make some additional selections the day-of.

3. Disney will work in some park hopper option once the roll-out is done.

I think the reason none of this has been implemented yet is b/c of the continued availability of FP-.

Tiers will come to MK. There is no way that they won't, once they open up the new mine coaster.

Here are the tiers I suspect are coming...

Tier One: Everything popular in the park including the Mine Coaster

Tier Two: Everything else

I still have a "wait and see" attitude. I think there will be more "tweaking" once the legacy fastpass is gone and everyone is on the same system. I don't think they want to discourage park hopping, they make money off that.

I know this is still just a "test" :rotfl2: but so far everything seems to be going as the "sky is falling" doom and gloomers have predicted

It's a heavy burden to be right all the time, but somehow I manage.

P.S. I'll cop to a fair amount of "doom and gloom" (read: being realistic) but I don't consider my position to be "the sky is falling."

Universal just filed for a patent for a queue reservation system. It isn't a clone of MM+ and FP+, but there are similar aspects. I think this is what the amusement industry sees as the future of queue management and we need to a)be prepared, and b) give them useful feedback on how to make it as good as possible.

You're really going out on a limb there. ;)

:thumbsup2

And take it from me, don't imply that Tier 1 is more of a headliner category than Tier 2 either or Judge Judy may come after you in a pathetic attempt to argue that tiers aren't as bad as they look.

I'm still not a fan of FP+, but I think that I've reached the Acceptance phase. I've spent a lot of time complaining on the DIS and other venues about it, but it's not going away. Like others have said, we'll find a way to adjust and still have a great time. It's going to make some parts of touring easier while others are more difficult. If nothing else, it really makes me decide what are my top must-see attractions at MK.

The tricky part is visiting with kids who aren't going to do Space Mountain. Since the obvious move is to pick Space, Splash, and Big Thunder for FP+, that means long waits for Peter Pan and others. This is very tricky...

One of the new perks to stay on-site is advanced FP+ selections. For the premium Disney charges to stay on site I see this as fair. And I also stay off site every once in a blue moon. I'm only 2 hours away from Disney so if I head to Orlando for the weekend I'll Priceline something on I-Drive. But when I so a "Disney Vacation" I stay on site for the perks, other wise why pay the premium?
Why did anyone stay onsite in the past then?

In FP+, the evil minds of Disney marketing have managed to create a system that is worse for everyone, but because it is relatively less worse for on-site guests, it is now percieved as a "perk" for staying on-site.

Brilliant!!!
I love it. ;)

We squeezed in one more trip this past year and stayed offsite. We used the old legacy system as usual and it was wonderful! Now I'm hesitant to even look at WDW as a vacation destination, at least for a while.

Universal will likely be able to be more "fair" since they have so few resorts. I imagine that whatever they come up with won't feel quite so limiting simply due to scope. At least I hope not. :scared:

It is what it is and we can't control it. We will find a way to make it work. It certainly won't make me change a vacation. You will still be in Disney. It's the happiest place on earth with so much to do. The world is not ending. ;)

I do have a question in regards to off-site guests...since I will be one soon. When I arrive at AK and now MK (and possibly the other two by the time I go)....and I arrive at the kiosk and CM to make my same day FP+ selections, will I be given a choice of available times? Or will I just get whatever like the FP- system? I can just imagine going up and wanting to ride EE and I get 10 am....which may be the exact time I have breakfast at Tusker planned. I am just using this as an example. Would I have the choice to chose 12 noon if it's available? And will they give me a ticket or will the FP+ be linked to my disney ticket (which is a credit card type ticket). Will it need to be scanned when I go to EE so they "see" the FP?

I'm mildly surprised that it's MK up next just due to the sheer number of attractions using FP- in addition to FP+. We're going at the end of February and fully expected at least one other park to stop FP- before we went, possibly two. Now I'm thinking all 4 may be converted before we get there.

I'm not remotely surprised by the difference in onsite/offsite either. When they first started rolling this out, I suspected this was going to be sold as a "perk" to those onsite. Universal has been offering their version of fast pass for onsite guests for years. I've seen on these board where people have stated that they were booking 1-2 nights at a Universal hotel just to get the unlimited fast pass. Disney sees that too. While guests saw free fast pass at WDW as a big benefit over Universal where you have to pay, WDW saw it as missed dollars.

This is their happy medium. Still offer FP+ free for all guests (for now...I would not be shocked if that goes away eventually) but only give onsite guests, the ones paying a premium, access to the app and advance booking. I don't think Disney will ever allow offsite guests the ability to book ahead or through the app. Takes away a "perk" from onsite guests.

I agree that prebooking appears to be out for offsite guests but I do think that they might offer the app in some way. I think that it would be easier for Disney to get everyone on the app if they could.
