Anyone already post that paper FP will be gone at MK as of 1/14?

Unlike with paper FP, with FP+ if you miss one of your reservations you can schedule another one to replace it subject, of course, to what is available at that time.

That's a little disingenuous; it only matters for FP+ that you can change it because there's a low and hard limit on how many you can get.

We were in parks 1/3-1/7 and fp+ SUCKED EGGS!!! No paper machines in AK our first day and CRAZY waits in standby lines. 2nd day in Epcot was indescribable, so we happened upon the right cm at guest services who gave up kttkc in addition to our magic (not so much) bands to use the rest of our trip. We love traditional fast pass! Worked for us. :thumbsup2
Also cast members we encountered were not on board with fp+ and weren't afraid to say it.

I guess that's true. The advantage with FP+ is that you could make a change ahead of time if you know you are going to miss a FP you have, whereas you may not be able to do that with FP- unless your window to receive another one has opened up.

You also wouldn't have to be at the attraction to claim your replacement FP. You could do it across the park, at your resort, or on the bus if you have Internet access.

So exactly like FP- ... where you could walk over and pull another FP, subject to what was available ????

If your FP return time had expired, your FP window would be open.

But that's pretty fair to say that the advantage is that you can change ahead of time, or from across the park without having to go and pull another FP.

Whether that is worth trading being limited to 3 FPs and Tiering, probably not in my experience. But it is one of the advantages of the system.

That is something considering that some of the most ardent opponents say that they can't think of ANY advantages to FP+. :)

I don't think the most ardent opponents actually say that, even people like Mad and Lake amongst others will admit there are potential benefits for FP+, but they just reason those benefits are either outweighed by the costs, or that they wont materialize in the manner suggested.

Though I do see how you might think they never see anything positive from some of their posts. And there are certainly people who have come here and said "there is nothing good about this system" ...but those are usually one-off posters, not people who post here regularly.

I think this is very similar to the people who say they "love FP+, there is nothing negative about it ... " but then go on to say "They were double dipping and that being limited to 3 FPs is dumb and Tiering is terrible" ... Some of the anti-FP+ really have an issue with these types of responses ...

I really don't want to get into another one of these snits, but I wouldn't have trouble finding posts from someone who said that they are trying to find good things about FP+ but are having trouble doing it.

I had hoped that the emoticon I added would make it clear that I meant that as a benevolent comment.

I personally never had an issue with "crossing the park" to get anything, whether it was an FP or a pretzel, pushing a stroller or not, family in tow or alone. Never even really thought about it, didn't find the parks that big and walking even at a brisk pace has never been anything that bothered me, inside or out of a theme park. I guess I should count myself as being fortunate to be in decent shape. It's only when I'm standing in a line that my feet start hurting. Really hurting.

But the days of paper FP's are numbered anyway, by next week they will all be gone, history, a thing of the past and we can focus on the strengths and weaknesses of the new system and how best to use it to it's full advantage.

Provided, of course, tiers and park hopping and duplicate attraction and limit three are all addressed. :)

Agreed on all counts. While I've tried to stay positive and hope that it will all work out somehow in the end, right now I see no positives for us and our touring style. FP+ as its currently being rolled out is so limiting compared to what was previously in place.:worried:

It is harder to cross the park when you aren't in it.

It's also harder to decide what you want a FP+ for when you can't see the current standby line to see that you don't need one.

Not to mention off-site guests currently can only access FP+ from within the park and then at strategically located kiosks - where they may also not be aware of current SB line times.
