Anybody use the essure method?

Sorry I didn't respond to your post. I' m glad your insertion was fairly painless. I had no issues at all with mine, as a matter of fact I went shopping afterwards. At the time I had an infant who was breastfeeding and I think that was more uncomfortable for me than the insertion.

I know some men might flame me, but I think men who won't go through a vasectomy are unfair and irresponsible... It's not a big deal at all (says my husband). As a matter of fact, our relationship is so much better now that there is absolutely no risk of an accident occurring. Sure it took him 4.5 years to work up the courage to do it, but he did it & I'm thankful for it

Getting a vasectomy is a HUGE deal to many, many men. No need to attack them.

How about a diaphragm? It's an older method, but I've used it for 7 years and am very happy with it. It's cheap, easy once you get the hang of it, no side effects and immediately reversible (meaning, if you want more kids, don't put it in :) ). I don't know why this isn't more popular, and I had to mention it to the ob/gyn myself.

The diaphragm is an option although I would love a non-hormonal one, if that's possible. I'm getting tired of hormones now after years on birth control and then years of fertility treatments just to have our son.

After I got my Mirena yesterday I was having some cramping and I started reading online what others had experienced. While reading I read about an option where a small bar can be placed in your arm as birth control, I wonder if that would work for you?

I looked in to that and my doctor recommend against it due to bleeding issues with me. I almost bled out with my fibroids. I can't have an iud either. But thanks for the suggestions.

Diaphragms are non-hormonal. They are made of rubber, latex I believe (not sure). The gel stuff you use with it is spermicide, so there are not hormones involved at all with this method (I get it at Walmart, it's over next to the condoms and stuff).

Okay. So I wonder how it is different than the Nuva Ring. I had that for 18 months and the bleeding was so bad that I had to stop.

Have you been um, accident-free with one? Are you happy with it?

I got it after my youngest child was born 7 years ago-and she's still my youngest :) I'm happy with it because it's cheap, easy to use, no side effects, and if we ever want another baby, we just wouldn't use it.

Awesome! I'm going to look into this before DH gets snippity-snipped.
