DD want to take her scooter (handle comes off and my rolling duffle is huge). we are staying at ASM and POR. are these things welcome there and is there a place to ride them.we were always offsite or downtown disney resort so not familiar with such things:confused:

I don't believe they allow scooters, skates or skateboards onsite.

I wouldn't take anything like that. The walkways are small and there are usually people on them. I am sure it is fine in your own neighborhood but it would be annoying to have a child scooting around you as you walk to the food court etc. They have playgrounds at some of the resorts and pools. I think you can ride bikes at some of the resorts also. If you are staying at the Boardwalk and maybe the POR they have surrey bikes that you can ride around there however I have seen people loose control of theses things and run other people over.

We saw a few kids scooting around the lake at CBR and nobody asked them to stop. I'm not sure if it's actually allowed, though...

We stayed at CSR in April and brought along skates. Noone said anything.

Stephanie were you there in mid August?? I know there were three kids there with scooters that they decided to ride right down the middle of Old Port Royal. Needless to say they were told thats a MAJOR NO NO and sent out.

The walkways are really not big enough for people and scooters and the parking lots would be too dangerous. I would leave the scooter at home.

We have always been told no scooters and no skating or skateboards....

Ivs, no; we were there in March (i.e., way too long ago). The scooter kids weren't being rude or anything, but you're right...there's really not room for that, especially if they're being rowdy.

i should have been more specific, i meant she would only use it on the bike or jogging path when we were walking or jogging or biking, i think there is a path like this a POR, i dont see the difference on a path made for mechanical vehicles. does that change anyones response?

The following is taken directly from the Tradewinds, CBR's Directory of Services. "Florida law does not permit in-line skating on roadways or parking lots. Please see a Resort Recreation Cast Member for information concerning in-line skating and scooters, as well as appropriate locations." That being said I vote for leaving the scooter at home. It's an accident waiting to happen.

Even though I fear being seen as a curmudgeon, I'm going to tell you my opinion. Please don't bring that scooter. There is nothing worse than having to dodge kids on wheels at the end of a long and tiring day. The difference between scooters and the rented vehicles? BRAKES!

It only takes one not well supervised child on skates or a scooter to make it miserable for others. This is not implying that yours would be, but I have seen too many parents whose thought seems to be that they are on vacation, so they are vacationing from being a parent too.

There is plenty for DD to do without a scooter.
