I was just looking for disney fan reviews and was wondering if anyone caught an early afternoon showing?

Not sure when I'm going to get to see it, but I just checked movies.com as their reviews are very accurate. They total up all the various media reviews (newspapers and magazines) so you get a very well rounded idea of what people think - here's their results:

14 postive reviews
0 negative reviews
1 mixed review

Now I really can't wait!

I don't know how many of you check out RottenTomatoes - but it's a site that compiles reviews from around the country (and world) for films. It assigns a "fresh rating" to each film depending on how many good/bad reviews it receives.

I just checked out Finding Nemo. Out of 71 reviews - it has received only 1 bad review - and even that one was just going on about how it's a kid movie (well, duh...). It has a "fresh rating" of 99%! I've never seen a movie get such high reviews.

My 2 DDs and my parents went to a preview last week. My Mom's words were " AMasterpiece!" The girls LOVED it! My 8yo said it reminded her of the old disney films like Mermaid, lol! Now we will see if Pixar goes the way of Hillary Duff!

I took DD, age 11 and DS, age 8 to see the film today.

All 3 of us give it two thumbs up! It was funny, poignant and very entertaining. I personally liked the references to Psycho and The Birds. It was fun to hear adults laughing at different points of the movie than the kids.

I wasn't originally too sure about Ellen Degeneres' part in the movie - but she was hilarious!

Make sure you stay for all of the credits to see some of the Pixar touches.

Look at Toy Story 2.

This morning we got up and went to the disney story - they are having a 50% off sale starting today. So we bought several gifts for several kids, and spent just over $50, and with that we got two free tickets to go see Finding Nemo. So we went to the first show at noon, thinking that some of the preschool set may not be mobilized yet, and it was a good call. The theatre was only about 1/3 - 1/2 full.

The movie was good. I'm not sure if it has some of the wow that the previous movies had. I saw that scoop wasn't sure if he could tell one fish from another, well, that's not a problem at all. They are very much characters with their own personalities. I tended to like all of them, maybe some of them didn't make a lot of sense, but they were all OK. Ellen did a good job, especially speaking whale. I thought the memory thing was going to be lame but it didn't bug me. I thought the turtle from the preview would bug me but it didn't. I think this is a good one for fathers and sons, maybe more than moms. The one bad review that I saw on rotten tomatoes the guy was basically saying that it wasn't as good as toy story, and that, unlike other pixar movies, he always thought that this was a kids movie and not a grown up movie. I disagree with him on that one. I think maybe he isn't a grown up enough to recognize the grown up side of it yet. There certainly is one. I almost misted up a couple of times from the whole father-son thing. The story is pretty straight forward, there is some action though and it is fun. It seemed to go quick and didn't drag for me. There really isn't a villain. It has the Pixar heart to it.

There are a couple of intense scenes that may be a lot for little kids, but all the kids in the theatre seemed fine with those.

It is pretty darn great looking under the sea. I caught a couple of almost inside jokes, I guess, but I'll have to go again in a few weeks because I didn't see the pixar ball. I did see Mike Wazowski. There was a little nod to 20Klots.

The short Knick Knack showed first, I think they reduced the plastic girls' chests. It is a good one. When it was over, the little girl in front of me said out loud with a little bewildered disgust "That's IT!?" which got a chuckle from me.

Remember it is Pixar, stay until the end.

My Dad is always saying that Mother's Day gets all the hype, but Dad's like to be treated special for a day too. Considering Nemo's storyline, if the marketing department wasn't smart enough to put together a "This Father's day... take your Dad to see Nemo" type promotion, I'll be disappointed.

I don't have the patience to wait for Father's Day, so I'm taking my Dad to the movie today.

They did. Another board I read, Animation Nation.com, was talking about this earlier in the week.

I just saw it on a digital screen. My gf kept asking if some scenes were real cause of how real they looked, especially the jelly fishes. I like it. It was funny and was a tear jerker. i enjoyed it. but wouldnt see it again till video. But it was solid, typical pixar flik

I don't agree at all that this movie is better for fathers and sons. I really think that everyone will enjoy this movie. Ellen was really super and the animation, humor, characters...it was ALL real good.

Pixar has hit another homerun.

"better" was a wrong word. "Special" might have been a better choice.

I was able to identify with marlin but more so with Crush. I thought compared to other movies where alot of the time its all about moms and dad doesnt really show up this one was 'better' for fathers in that regard and special.

Crush's reaction when the little dude comes back in is so how i am. Its a good movie for everyone but i thought it really was great for dads real special and all other mushy words.

Yup, I can see the Dad thing now. The movie was just so superb that I felt like I could relate in so many ways. But based on what's been said here maybe I should urge DH to see it too? Fat chance unfortunately (he's Disney impaired) but it's worth a try. Thanks for the idea!

Saw the movie and thought it was great!!

What's the Pixar Ball?

my husband and myself took our son(2) and our nephew(3) to it tonight. it was great it kept the two of them (including us) intreged. we ALL loved it. my husband kept laughing at dory and he loved what ellen did with the part. i didn't see the pixar ball or mike wazowski; however i did see buzz lightyear.

Gotta share a little story from my showing...

You know the part where the two pelicans are sitting in the water, the bubble pops up and the one pelican says to the other, "Nice." Well, the bubble pops up and before the pelican could speak, from the front of the theater a little voice popped up and said, "Nice." The parents in the theater all laughed, and then when the pelican said his "nice" everyone just laughed harder.

I give it two enthusiastic fins way, way up.

Loved the father/son storyline, but more so with Crush and the little dudes than with the Albert Brooks character.

There is absolutely no problem telling one fish from another. It is amazing how much the colors of each fish stand out so much against the beautiful and vivid underwater scenes. And yes there were many scenes where it would have been easy to convince me that they mixed in live action. Photo-realism.

The harder part is ranking. Funny, funny lines, but IMHO very intense scenes (which my three year old didn't seem to have much of a problem handling. In fact, none of the children in the theater blanched).

Add up the story, the artistry, the message, and the scare factor and it was very, very Walt-like. Plus that little song at the end of the movie stayed in my head the entire way back.

One more thing. Can anyone remember the name of the species of fish that was a Fisherman type of fish? I used to know it when I was a kid, and it is killing me.
