I was on a website tonight that said if you put a pinch of baking soda in a gallon of iced tea, it will take away any bitterness, plus it will darken the tea, but not change the flavor.

Have you heard of this?

Never heard of this before.....who is going to be the first one to try???

Yes! I have always heard this. Probably wisdom of Southern ladies who really know their sweet tea!

Yes, I have heard of it and my mother did this all the time to her "sweet tea".:thumbsup2

I've never heard of that but I'll try it if my tea ever gets bitter.

Did you ever use those Lipton Cold Brew tea bags? You can brew a glass or a pitcher depending on which size bags you buy. I tried them and love them, I put a bag in my thermos before work with water and a little crushed ice (I take the bag out when I get to work). It's like fresh brewed tea all day long and tastes great. I was very impressed and surprised that it tasted like my home brewed tea.

I always do this when I make my sweet tea. Yummm.

That's the way my family has always made sweet tea. Then again, I am from the south. :)

Same here. I was always told it kept the tea from being cloudy
