Anybody own Lucchese boots?

I just bought a pair of Lucchese boots that I got a great deal on from an online Lucchese dealer (more than 60% off the original price). The boots are gorgeous, and I'm very pleased with the fit and comfort.

But (why does there always have to be a but? ;)) I'm wondering whether I need to send them back. Of course, it's normal for leather boots to have a little bit of squeak in them as they are broken in, and I recognize that. With these boots, one of them is what I would consider normal when you walk in it or flex it (very little noise). The other boot is very different. It sounds like a door that badly needs WD40. If you walked into a room where there was a lot of noise, you probably wouldn't hear it, but if you walked into a store or room with nominal noise, it would be very noticeable.

I can't exchange them because I got the last pair in my size (of course :headache:) so if I send them back, I'll have to settle for my money back. I'm trying to find out if this is normal (this is my first pair of Lucchese boots). Any input?

Thanks! :)

...I neber heeerd o' them, so I googled Luccese boots - boy, they sure are purtee!!! :thumbsup2

I have a pair of custom made Lucchese's i have had for more than 20 years-they still fit like gloves and i still love them. But they were never noisy. Is there any way you can take them to a boot shop and have them checked out-for what they cost you would hate to have to return them-and it may stop as the leather softens with wear-but you hate to spend that-even 60 percent off-for a pair of boots and then be embarrassed to wear them.
Okay i dont know how i got that silly icon-and i didnt mean to do that.

I was actually thinking about taking them by a boot shop when I go into town Monday, but I'm afraid to have them do anything to them because then I can't return them. They are gorgeous though, and I think I may be spoiled now. They feel soooo good on!

But you're right, I don't want to draw attention as I squeak through places (certainly not THAT kind of attention! :rotfl2:)!

You answered my question though. I was pretty sure this wasn't normal (especially since the other boot is completely different). I guess they're going to go back :guilty:, but I know what I'm going to be looking for now (glad to hear that you've enjoyed yours for so long - that takes a little bit of the price sting out).

I wonder what causes that squeak? I have a pair of leather clogs that one of them squeaks badly. I've had them a few years and I never did break them of the noise.

The customer service guy that I talked to said that in my case it sounded like it might be a fault in the sole. I thought about letting him listen to it over the phone but decided he might think I was nuts! LOL I so hate to give up these boots, but your clog reinforces even more to me that they need to go back. :)

My father (who is passed away now) had a pair of these boots and LOVED to wear them and did not get his 60% off. LOL He wore them so much that he sent them back to the company to have them resoled. Maybe that could be an option since they are under warranty the company can resole them for you and see if that stops the squeak. I wish you luck with your boots because a good pair of boots are such a great find!

Your dad must have had boots from the Classics collection. I'm not positive, but I think they'll resole them for life. I will check on the possibility of warranty work. I hadn't thought about that! :thumbsup2

I have 2 pairs and love them.:lovestruc
No squeaks.:confused3

GREAT for riding horses. And so comfortable.

I can honestly say that they felt totally broken in even though they're brand new. I've never put on a boot (or shoe) that felt that good straight out of the box. I'm sold on Lucchese boots now (and that's even with the squeak problem). :thumbsup2

If I remember correctly because it has been several years ago, he did pay for them to be resoled. That's how much he LOVED to wear those boots. He was like you...he said they were the most comfortable boots or shoes that he had ever put on straight out of the box. I do hope they can correct them for you because I know how expensive those boots are and to get a pair 60% off is a great deal!

I am very happy to report that I heard back from Lucchese just a few minutes ago (apparently, somebody's working pretty late). The repair department is going to be contacting me about what to do next. Yes!!! :thumbsup2

I live in lucchese boots. The classic's do have the ability to be sent back to the factory to have soles hand sticked back on. When you do that, the entire sole is removed and replaced by hand. It has been a couple of years but I think it was about 150-175 to do that. The 1883 and 2000 brands do not have that ability. I like the fit of the 2000, although they are hard to find in a good skin, and usually take several months to get in when ordered. It really is a neat process. They do not produce every boot and style everyday. They have certain runs, so, if you want a classic with a certain toe and heel in a special skin like smooth alligator, or elephant, etc. they will tell you when the next time is they will be made and place your order. If you are ever in El Paso, there is a factory store.

I have a pair of elephant boots that do "squeak" a bit but I am used to it. My ostrich leg and quill and caymen's do not.

I have tried other boots which are supposedly the same quality (blackjack handmade) but I kept them for a day and returned them for another lucchese.

I have to agree about the quality. As I said before, I've never tried on Lucchese boots, but these far surpass any others I've tried. My son-in-law has me looking for some for him now. :)

My husband bought a pair of lizard skin ones when our child was an infant. Our child just turned 29! :rotfl2:

He doesn't wear them often anymore (Urban Cowboy craze died down) but they are still in good shape!
