In 1998 when I had JUST gone on maternity leave, DH's car up and died and we ended up buying a '99 Saturn SC1, as we could get it new as cheap as used similar models of Chevys and such. Anyway, we love it very much. It has over 150,000 miles on it and has never had a problem. DH commutes 60 miles per day in it. It gets 35mpg
When the time came for me to get a new car we didn't really find anything else that had the bang for the buck in the price department that Saturns do, and we also looked very carefully at the safety ratings. I have side curtain air bags, antilock brakes, etc. I have a '02 Saturn L sedan and I am very happy with it.
I want a Relay very badly as the only problem with my L100 is that I can't carpool (only room for 1 other child besides my two girls), but I'm not sure how the gas milage compares to my L100 and we really can't afford a new car right now anyway...but when the day comes, it will be a Saturn
