Here's the story:

An item I ordered was mailed from a business on Monday to my residential address. I see that by early AM on Tuesday the package is in my local city. YAH! The tracking info shows that the package was on the truck for delivery on Wed, but returned to the facility. There is then a "delivery exception" that says they did not attempt delivery, will schedule delivery for next day. Nothing yesterday. Also, this package was coming from 2 1/2 hrs away in my same state. I see nothing today about the item even being on a truck.

I sent an e-mail yesterday, but I have yet to hear anything. I hope nothing is wrong here, and would love to actually get a live customer service rep.

Thanks.

Call 1-800-gofedex and when the voice prompts start, try hitting 0 or # or *. I think eventually it'll send you to a human.

That is exactly what's going on here and they won't tell me anything, except to sit tight and wait. They're several days behind with deliveries due to the holidays, they say.

It's on a truck since 12/16 and they have no idea where it is. No hang tag on the door, no attempt to deliver it yet apparently.

Fedex has done a very poor job this year (IMO). Every package I had to be delivered was at least a day late. Dh says that one of his (for me of course!) is about a week behind. My mom's was late too, she said they told her her city was last on the delivery list so basically it would get there as soon as they could do the full route.

I did finally speak to someone and was told the same as all of you. They are way behind and it sounds like my package is just sitting in a corner or on a truck somewhere.

According to my tracking info 2 days ago it actually left my area for another town about 20 minutes away?? The rep today said that they are sending overflow to another terminal for them to help out. I don't know if this is good or bad. Oh well!

I do feel badly for the reps and drivers. I'm sure they are working as hard as they can.

Anyone know if they will deliver tomorrow (Sat)?? It's not listed as one of their holidays, but I wasn't sure if they work weekends.

I have had a terrible experience with Fed Ex this year. I bought a cell phone from ebay. It was suppose to be delivered on the 19th, it didn't come. Called Fed Ex. They told me they we running behind and it would be delivered on the 21st. Well the 21st came and went and guess what? NO CELL PHONE. I stayed home so it wouldn't be sitting out in the single digits. When I called Fed Ex on the 22nd, I was told I was not in the system and there was no delivery scheduled. I went to go to school for my daughter's Christmas party and lo and behold my phone was in my planter right outside my door. It was 20 degrees out. I brought the phone inside and plugged it in, want to guess what happened next..... It wouldn't power up! The screen was frozen. It was insured but Fed Ex says they don't cover anything that has to be climate controlled. Lucky for me I was dealing with a honest seller that immediately refunded all of my money including shipping and he even gave me return postage. The most valuable lesson I have learned this year is that, I WILL NEVER EVER ship anything with Fed Ex. :teeth:

The holidays come each year, and each year it is busy. This isn't something new to them. They should really hire enough staff during the holidays so they can deliver their packages on time.

I'm with you!

I'm having the same problem with UPS

My item arrived at the service center and was scanned out on the truck, right on time, very early am 12/23.
Then at 7:40 pm it was scanned again as an "exception" and delivery was resceduled for 12/27. It now shows as "package missed at UPS facility" ummm, I think not... since it was already on the truck. More likely Mr. UPS man's shift was over at 7pm, so all undelivered packages went back to the service center.
Maybe a little overtime would be in order to get the job done.

Unfortunately I didn't read the disclaimer about deliveries between 12/12 and 12/24 being considered Holiday Service; and as such, exempt from the normal delivery guarantees.
So why was it I paid all that extra $$ for expedited shipping?

Now I've got to decide whether to go out and get something else for DD #2, or to pull gifts from all the kids and tuck them away for New Years. Sure would have helped if it had been one small thing instead of 2 of her 'most wanted' items!

What to do :confused3

I checked on the tracking info and my package says it is scheduled for delivery today. Does fedex deliver on Saturdays?

USPS isn't any better. DMIL sent DS's Christmas presents from CA on 12/5 Priority Mail. They arrived in NJ on 12/21!

It wasn't my regularl mailman (who was on the look-out for this package for me). I was out of the house for 5 minutes. I went to the PO to mail something and inquire about the package. I passed DH on his way home while I was going to the PO. When I got home the mail was there along with a slip to pick up the package at the PO. You would think he would have seen that someone was now home and come back with the package. NO - I had to go back to the PO at 5:00 pm to get it. :headache:

Cats mom, you have a PM (for anybody in her situation, most UPS centers are open today for pickup ONLY).

Rcpae: It depends on what option the shipper chose. UPS does deliver on Saturdays - it just costs your shipper a lot more. If the tracking information says it'll be delivered today, it will be. Just please be sure to be home - there's no way you'd be able to pick up the package today if the driver can't deliver it.

I'm on hold with Fedex now... they have had a package for me sitting in a terminal since 12/20. They have made no attempt to deliver it, but each time I've called they tell me its on the truck and will be delivered that day. Guess what? No package and according to the website its still sitting in the terminal. I would rather they tell me it will be here after Christmas rather than keep lying to me.

Hah.. update. After 4 days of telling me that the package is on the truck awaiting delivery they are now saying they NEVER had the package in the first place. Wow!

Oh wait... they just FOUND the package again... a Christmas Miracle. But guess what? ITS ON THE TRUCK FOR DELIVERY!! Right. Maybe they will even get Santa to drop it off on his way thru the neighborhood.

I really think that the whole "it's on the truck for delivery today sir" line is a big scam. They tell you that to get you off the phone while knowing that tomorrow you will call and complain to someone else. And then that person tells you the same bull.

Merry Christmas everyone :)

Not a response to the OP directly, but a general comment: clearly the shippers were not prepared for just how much of an increase there would be in online shopping this year. My co-worker's husband, who drives for FedEx, is seeing tons of online purchases. I personally did LESS this year but I know many people who shopped online for the first time this year.

People in the Northeast are also feeling the effects from the NYC transit strike, as NOTHING was moving in NYC for a the first part of the week. I think I heard on the news that FedEx dropped guarantees on shipments that passed through the area.

We bought the Christmas Tree we saw on the Food network when we were in Disney. It was Shippped Fed Ex Dec 12.

It is still not here yet after many calls to Disney Florist and Fed Ex. Both promised it would be here last night after 2 days of
No attempt made, delivery scheduled for next business day

I have caught Fed Ex in at least 5 lies and would love to sue them just to cause them as much aggrevation as this tree has for me. My youngest bought a 2 ft tree yesterday while I was at work so santa had a place to leave her presents.

At 8:30pm last night I bought a tree and they are decorating it now.

When the tree that I bought from Disney does finally arrive someone at Fed Ex is going to become a tree topper.

Signed another disgruntled Fed Ex customer :)

TomD - I'm not particularly impressed with FedEx either (my company ships with them @@) but please remember, especially this month, there's an excellent chance that whoever delivers your package is NOT the same person who did the No Delivery Attempted baloney. Please DON'T top your tree with the person who brings it to your house!

Well, I'm off now to pick up my package at UPS! Toodles! :)

eta: I've been back for a while (ran some other errands at the same time). There were more cars in the UPS parking lot than I've seen there all year. Not simply "at one time", but total :) On my way in, a customer leaving with a package wished me luck and told me to be prepared to WAIT, it was packed inside.
I got in line and could hear the rep 'discussing' the first customer's package location with him - apparently, it was out for delivery. Yes, UPS is delivering today - so's FedEx, if the delivery trucks I saw on the road are any indication.
Well, one of the reps I deal with all year walked in through the front door, and I handed her the tin of cookies I'd gotten them all. I said, "Merry Christmas, now can I get special service"? I was joking, of course, and said that. Well, a minute or so later, the man in front of me turned around and said something about my bribe working. I couldn't see the counter, but I moved sideways and sure enough, there was MY package (from QVC, very easy to notice bright yellow bag)!!
So I started insisting again that I hadn't intended to get special treatment, that I was willing to wait. But apparently, of every customer, I was the ONLY one who'd called yesterday to have my package held. Everybody else's deliveries were either on trucks to be delivered Tuesday - meaning they'd have to wait while UPS staff searched the trucks - or was out ON a truck to be delivered today.

My Fedex nightmare continues... I finally got a hold of a manager who was helpful and he promised me that the package was on a truck and would be delviered before 3pm. He even gave me his cell phone number and said I could call him if there was a problem. Well... I just checked the online tracking and it says the package was delivered today at 10:30 AM... WTH? I have been home all day and no one stopped here from Fedex and nothing was left at my door. This is beyond comical now. I'm beginning to think that they just marked it as delivered to give me another set of hoops to jump through.

It reminds me of the scene in the Incredibles where Mr. Incredible is whispering to the old lady about how to get her claim filed. Which later leads to one of my favorite lines in the movie when his boss is complaining that too many of his customers are getting their claims filed and he yells, "They're penetrating the bureaucracy, Bob!"

How true.

Kramer - have you called the manager's cell phone since you last tracked your package? I can't WAIT to hear how they explain this one - and good luck!

I called the manager's cell phone and was immediately connected to... his voicemail. How appropriate.

I called the regular 800 number back for Fedex and after a lot of runnaround I finally was connected to someone with a pulse. It seems that Fedex did deliver my package today. But they decided to deliver to the wrong house number on my street. I took a walk down to my neighbor's house and feeling a lot like a criminal I stole my own package off their front porch and marched home victorious.

It only took 15+ calls to Fedex over four days to get them to deliver a package that was sitting in a warehouse an hour away. A model of efficiency to be sure. My wife wants to know I'm going to do with all my free time now that I won't be battling Fedex on the phone anymore. :wave2:

Why, advocate for OTHER disgruntled delivery-"service" recipients, of course! :teeth:
And, I rescind my earlier plea - if you had encountered your non-delivery driver today, it would have been perfectly acceptable to use him/her as your tree-topper!
