And how many days prior I can make the ressies? Trip will be during my son's 4th birthday, so I'm hoping to get this scheduled for his special day.

Also, hours for brkfst at 1900 Park Fare? Thought we might do this before hand.

Is it possible to have a great bday without the parks at all? After those two, thought of nap time back at CBR and then swimming at the pool there with the fortress and all..................then maybe pizza, cake and presents..............no parks.

Can I get a cake at CBR or delivered from another resort?

Hi! I can help with the Pirate Adventure info. It departs on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. It lasts 2 hours and the ressies can be made 90 days in advance. I booked mine 90 days out and didn't have any problems getting them. Good luck and I hope your son has a very magical birthday! :flower:

Thanks.........his birthday will be on Monday! I knew it was only certain days, so happy Monday is one of them! Doesn't change for holidays, do you think? It'll be the Monday after Memorial Day...............

Edited to say, you know, it's surprising how hard it is to find this information. I suppose they give it out to the people staying at GF when they check in, but it's very difficult to find anything on it otherwise!

I have an 8 year old son, would this be something he would enjoy? What does it entail? After reading all the books and the websites and visiting WDW numerous times there is always something new to try!

I scheduled the Pirate Cruise for the day of my son's 4th birthday, with bfast at 1900 Park Fair the same day. I'll admit to being pretty apprehensive about letting my baby out on a boat without me, but am trying to remain calm. (Can you tell he's an only child?) :) My cousin's seven year old daughter is going too, so he won't be entirely with strangers, but still............

I think I can help with some info on the Pirates Cruise. DO IT! I wanted a special Christmas present for our six year old granddaughter. It was this or the special tea. My daughter-in-law and I quickly decided that Marlie would like some action rather than a tea. So I booked her on the Pirates Cruise. Oh man - she had a blast. It was probably the best thing we did that whole week.

Scrappinstevie - your 8 year old will love it. The kids are taken out on a pirate's ship (a pontoon boat with a Jolly Roger flag on the back). They visit different islands in Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. They "search" for the treasure using a map. The Cast Members are great and there's a little surprise for them. The kids are encouraged to think a bit as well. Lunch (Uncrustibles, juice, gummy worms, and something else) is served. At the end, the kids are given a bag of junky junk (plastic rings and insects) and a small treasure box with coins and beads. Sounds tacky but the kids just love it.

Pospisil - don't worry about leaving your child for two hours. My daughter-in-law was SO apprehensive. Marlie is an only child and the daughter-in-law was a single mother for a long time. They are close. Disney does everything right. When you get there, you will have to sign a release form. You also have to tell of any kind of allergies. At all. Since they had the Uncrustibles, we made sure they knew Marlie had a problem with cherries so she got a grape sandwich. You get a receipt and a pager. The pager is for emergencies. The receipt is to prove you are the one that dropped the child off. You have to have both in order to claim your child at the end. You can see the entire boarding process. Each child will be paired with another one. Since Marlie was alone, she was paired with another single girl the same age. Everything they do is with the pairs. When the kids board the ship, they are singing "Yo, ho, Yo, ho, a Pirate's Life for Me" at the top of their lungs. My daughter-in-law and I did a tour of the monorail resorts during the two hours. It was fun spotting the Pirate ship out in the water. When the boat docks back at the Grand Floridian, the now successful treasure finders are again singing the Pirate theme complete with "AAAAARRRRGGGHHH!" Every single kid was smiling and having a great time. The adults again can see the docking. No child comes off the boat without the Cast Member getting the receipt and pager. All kids are matched up with an adult before they leave the area.

Hints for this. Make sure your child has a potty break before they board the boat. We almost forgot that. Also, the check in will begin at 9:00. If you are there then, you can get some great shots of your young pirate without anyone else around. They will be given a bandanna to wear and they are issued life jackets (which are severely checked for fit before boarding). After the cruise, take your pirate towards the pool area and there's a nice fountain there. Makes for great photo ops with their treasure. Have them wear the bandanna for the rest of the day. It'll have their name on one of the ears. We had Pirate Marlie for the remainder of the day and she was addressed as such when she left the Grand Floridian.

All in all, this is a hidden gem at Disney World. The price is fantastic for the cruise. DO IT!

Thanks disnut for the run down

My son is booked on a Pirate Cruise during our October trip!

I'm from England and my son was the only non-American on the cruise. He was made to feel so welcome! The cast members were tremendous. They paired him up with a boy from Texas and they had a great time swopping stories. It was the most fantastic time he had in Disney world (or so he said) They visit other resorts and dig for treasure and all the kids had a wonderful time. Me and my husband went for breakfast in the Grand Floridian while he was on the cruise and then had a wander around the resort.
We're going to Disney again in a couple of weeks and the Pirate Cruise is again on our list!

From another poster: Since they had the Uncrustibles, we made sure they knew Marlie had a problem with cherries so she got a grape sandwich.

I understood that peanut butter was served on the pirate cruise??? If not, I will book my kids into it. DS is not allergic to peanut butter but can't stand the smell of it. If one of us is eating peanut butter he has to leave the room (he tells us he feels ill).

Please let me know what is served during the pirate cruise.
Thank you
Suzy V.

Suzy,

The uncrustables are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They are pre-made sandwiches that crustless and sold at local grocery stores. You can
always buy them and see how he does with others eating these. I'm not
sure what he would get. You'd have to call the activities number and ask.

Good luck!

I have my DS (5) signed up to go on the Pirate Cruise during our trip in August. :cool1:

The cruise also leaves out of the YC/BC marina on Wednesdays - it is called the Albatross Cruise. I booked mine at 90 days out and we got the last spot. Good luck!
