I, yet again, get the bad mother award. I took the baby who is now 7 months to SW today. Well, I honestly didn't think of putting sunscreen on him and he was shaded all day in his stroller so I thought he'd be ok.
Well, this evening, he has developed a nice red face. My other children never had sunburns when they were this age because we lived in cold weather climates, so I'm not quite sure if there is something special I should be doing. It's only on his face and feet, and he doesn't seem to notice. The skin is hot to touch, so I put some regular baby lotion on it. He doesn't have a fever though. I wasn't sure if I could use the Aloe Vera gel this early because it seems they all have a pain reliever in them. This is what he looked like a few hours ago. Most of his face is red now.
So, anyone got any advice? Is there something special I should do since he is so young?

Awww, poor kiddo. Make sure he drinks extra water, and give him a little baby Tylenol. The water will hydrate him from the inside and the Tylenol will ease the pain.

I'd give him some tylenol and make sure he gets plenty of fluids. Poor guy.

i know this sound weird but has worked everytime someone gets a sunburn...put some milk on it. will take the burn/heat out...and doesn't sting. just put some milk on a washcloth and wipe his face with it.. my moisturizer is milk based (skin milk) and i put that on mine. but regular milk works great.

If you're breastfeeding, I bet breast milk would work great. It was awesome on my ds's eczema. I'm not sure if aloe is safe for babies or not, but that's what I use when I get a sunburn.

You have to be careful in the sun because you can get reflection burns-- reflections off the sand, water, ground.

I wouldn't put baby lotion on it. Milk is good. Also wet tbags, the tantric from the tea leaves will take the sting out. Cocoa butter should work too.

Poor little man. I did this too--we can share the award.

My Dr. suggested tylenol, and calamine lotion. Along w/ plenty of fluids.

Good luck

We use Milk too. Dab it on and leave it.

My kids burn as much as their father and both had a few sundburns as infants. Lots of fluids and moisturizer. Put the moisterizer in the fridge for a little extra relief. :thumbsup2

Why in the world would someone post to a 5 year old thread for their first post??? Odd. OK I think I answered my own question, looks like a sales pitch!

After 5 years I would think the sunburn would be gone by now.

:rotfl2: Think this get the zombie thread award for the day... Until someone mentioned it I dont look at the dates, I just look at new posts on page 1 so I see how ppl can comment unknowingly.

Why do ppl go to page 5 billion and 1 then comment? beyond me :confused3

I just saw the milk thing mentioned on the Today show this am~ she did mention that it needs to be whole milk~ not soy .

I hope you're little baby gets better soon :)

Note to self: Read the date. READ the date. READ THE DATE. Read the date of the OP. Then MAYBE I'll quit getting sucked into reading 5 year old zombie threads.

We need a facepalm sticky.

If he is feeling ok do not do anything. If he is uncomfortable use Motrin. Ibuprofen will help with a burn better than acetaminophen.

Wet (cold) T bags work wonders! The tannic acid takes the sting right out.

ETA, didn't realize it was an old thread. But I'm guessing someone somewhere this year will get a sunburn, and the advice stands :)
