Anybody going for Mardi Gras 2014?

It's early..... but just curious how many of y'all are heading to the world for Mardi Gras? We are going March 1-7. Ash Wed. just happens to be my daughter's 7th birthday. Can't wait to celebrate at MK with her! Our flights out of NOLA are booked and we are staying offsite at WH. That's as far as I have gotten planning wise!

We usually go first week of February for our birthdays, but due to high school curriculum, we will go during Mardi Gras break.

Should be a good year to go during Mardi Gras since it is not close to President's Day this year and is too early for Spring Break. Last year it was the week before Presidents Day so it got crowded by the end on the week. This year only you Louisiana (and maybe some Mississippi) people that will be out from school.

I was there this year during Mardi gras week and loved it. The temp was great and I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. We never waited more than 20 minutes for a ride.

Port Orleans does a great Mardi Gras parade in the afternoon. Every department (front desk, housekeeping, etc.) decorates a golf cart as a parade float. Some are quite elaborate. During the parade they toss beads and candy to the spectators. The year we were there the parade finished up with Tiana and Naveen in a horse-drawn carriage.
