Anybody getting excited about Christmas already?

:) I am trying to keep myself under control. :goodvibes I listen to Christmas music on my computer, but have not started listening to it in the car. I have not put any Christmas decorations up, but I do get excited when I see them in the stores. I baked cookies with my son today, but they were only chocolate chip - no Christmas cookies yet.
What are some special things you do with your kids if they are older? I have read about some Elf thing, but my kids are too old for that. The youngest two are 11 years old, then I have a teenage boy 17 and two grown children 20 and 22 living at home. I want to do some things that are special with them, but have no ideas as to what to do? :confused3
We do decorate a tree together, they help their Dad put up the outside decorations, we make Christmas cookies together, and there is the annual "boys only" shopping trip and "girls only" shopping trip.
What are some Christmas traditions that you have in your family that carry forth for older kids/adults?
Thanks! :santa:

I bought my Christmas tree this morning so I think that counts! It was off the shopping channel and I couldn't resist. :santa:

Oh heck yes... CHRISTMAS season starts when christmas in july hits QVC. I love love love the holiday season!!!! Im thinking about putting our tree up on halloween... DH is not down with this! LoL. Im sooo excited. Love the holidays! yipppeee!

ME!! I roll Thanksgiving and Christmas into one big 2 month long holiday! :thumbsup2 LOVE November and December!!!

Actually, the holiday season kicks off next week at our house. We do up the house big for Halloween, do understated for T-day, then ramp back up for Christmas. I've got the plans drawn up for lifesize toy soldiers (ala Disney), but that will have to wait till next year for all the parts.

Same here!! I always look forward to July 25! LOL I've already started with the xmas music and am patiently waiting for Halloween to be over so I can start with the lights!

Yes!!!

While I tease one my girlfriend's at work who pops in her christmas CD every now and then - i secretly grin and bop my head along with the music!

I love the holiday season!

Not this year. We were hoping our new baby would be home.

No. I don't know what to get anyone, and I dread the endless searching for the "perfect" presents that I feel obligated to find. How stressful.

If there was no shopping, yes!

Wow. No. It's not even Halloween yet. One season at a time. Christmas isn't even on my radar yet.

To each their own.

No, but I did tell my sister that we are NOT buying gifts for the whole family this yr. So I suppose I am getting ready to be "Scrooge".;)

I do like the holiday season. I prefer baking, music, decorations, and get togethers minus the gift buying.

I do have a Christmas doormat out does that count? However it is pure laziness on my part. ;)

Me, me! I do love Halloween, October through December is my fav time of the year! I've started my christmas shopping, just small stuff so far, I'm a bargain shopper, for instance, I found a book by Mr. Rogers for a buck at a dollar store (hardcover, nice book, price on jacket was 19.95), for my mom who loved Mr.Rogers; a couple nice shirts for hubs at The Label Shopper for 7.99 (originally 18)....
I just look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings with the extended family, and the excitement and joy of the kiddos....

I'm very blessed to be able to sing in the Candlelight Processional this year, so Christmas music has made a very early debut in my car! It's so exciting and while I can't wait, I also want to savor the spirit of Thanksgiving before delving into Christmas. For us, the Christmas season is peaceful and not a bit chaotic, so we really look forward to it every year. It's our recharging time (and I need it this year!)

Yes, I can't wait! I just bought a $600 Christmas tree & DH will never let me forget it!:rotfl: I don't think I've spent that much total on trees my entire life but it's gorgeous & I can't wait to decorate it.

DH played Christmas music in the car the other day & got me in the mood, too.

Nope, not yet. Fall is my favorite season - I like to enjoy it as slowly as possible. Christmas is winter to me, so I wait until Thanksgiving to start my Christmas fun :)

Ugh, no way. I LOVE Christmas and it is my favorite time of year, but not till after Thanksgiving. Personal pet peeve of mine when I see Christmas in the stores in October and houses already decorated. Takes the magic of it away for me.

I totally agree with you. By the time Christmas does finally roll around you are almost ready for it to be over since you have been hearing about it for so long. My tree doesn't go up until some time in December. Same with putting on Christmas music.

Yes! I'm very excited about the holiday season also. I admit to browsing through stores just to look at their Christmas stuff. I've started my Christmas lists (gift list and cookie list), and am just all around excited about the holiday season.

I am with you. The Christmas trees are up in many of the stores and again, by the time it actually arrives, I will be ready for summer.
