We are flying USAir and I see you can print your boarding pass online now and check luggage at curbside. Is this a better way to do it? I am one of the paranoid ones that wants a true thick paper copy of my pass versus a thin sheet of copier paper to keep up with. Am I being anxious for nothing?Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Yep. We print our own boarding passes every time we fly. I was a little nervous the first time, but now feel like an old pro. If you are a Dividend Miles member, you get 1000 bonus miles the first time you use online check-in, and and 50 miles thereafter.

I sometimes print my own boarding passes with USAir, usually when I only have carryon. I also do it if I want to change my seat, they will sometimes open up some seats on check-in day. If you lose it, you can get a duplicate at curbside or at the counter. Plus extra dividend miles!

I print two copies so in case I happen to lose one walking to the gate I have another. They can easily reprint one for you at the airport.

I printed mine as well and never had a problem.

I thought if I do have a problem, say I printed the wrong pass (don't know how it would happen), or lost the boarding pass, I can always reprint it at the airport as long as I have my reservation number.

Is curbside baggage check pretty smooth? Last time, we were over the weight limit and had to pay $25 extra for 2 bags! I think we learned our lesson.

Curbside check in is usually very smooth and quick. If you tip well they will usually overlook an overweight bag. But that is not a good idea in case for some reason you have to go inside then. Inside will get you for an overweight bag.

We printed our boarding passes online for our trip down. It went really smooth, and were able to skip the line on a Fri eve. at IND. One skycab was just handling people who had already had their passes. Made things much quicker.

Online boarding passes and curb side check in is the only way to go. You pull up, drop your bags with the porter, park your car, walk into the airport. The last couple times I have flown, the lines for the ticketing windows have been very long and then after standing in that line you move over to the security line and wait again. It is so much easier doing the curbside check-in and online boarding pass.

Sounds as though I might try it. We live in a rather small town and the airport only has US and Delta, you know, one level with about 4 checkin desks . I suppose they offer it here also.

I tried this from my hotel near BWI once when flying out from BWI and my printer didn't work. No problem...they printed me new passes at the curb.

I always print my boarding passes when possible. I normally fly jetBlue, Southwest, Song and Independence (whoever has the best price)

On the times where I could not print, I still checkin online and print the BP's at the airport.
