Did it hurt? Were the results good? Were there any complications

I'm hoping to get one within the next year or two :flower:

Oh, how I hate my nose! Hate it w/a passion!!! I have hated it for 40 years now!!! I've wanted a nose job for as long as I can remember. However, I am so not into recovering from painful things and anesthesia. Ideally, if I were thinking straight at the time, I could have scheduled a nose job in conjunction w/my appendectomy last month ... but it never dawned on me.

More than the pain, I am afraid that I will hate the end results more than I hate the nose I have now. For whatever reason, I'm convinced that I'd be one of those "Look how the Dr. botched this lady up" people you see on talk shows. So, I figure I may as well stick w/my own God-given nose.

But, w/that aside, I wish you luck. I have a few friends who've had nose jobs and they said that it's more uncomfortable having to breathe through your mouth than anything else. Of course, the black eyes are absolutely gorgeous (esp. when they change from varying yellows to greens to purples). But, I think if it's something you want, you should go for it!!!! Good luck to you ... I'm sure all will go well. Sorry I can't be more help, but I am offering up my support!

Warmly,
Daxx's Wife

I"m going to have one in June. I'm a little nervous about the final results. I know the recovery is a breeze. I'm just worried a little about what I will look like. I'm also having a brow lift at the same time.

Yep, about 3 months ago. Not one stitch of pain, and it looks so much better. It is still a little sensitive to hot and cold, or if dd smacks me accidently, and the swelling is not all gone, but the bump is gone. :goodvibes

Good Luck!

Briarmom,

How soon could you go out in public/back to work? What about the results-Did people go "Wow" or was it more subtle. I'm thinking of doing it over spring break, but I teach middle school and am worried about the results and reactions of my students.

I don't see why I would need one. :teeth:

I went out in public less than a week after. My doc took the bandages off 2 days after the surgery. I took out my own stitches so I could get out of the house, and he said I was the first patient ever to do that. ;) I wouldn't reccommend that, since you never know what could happen. My results are totally subtle, because I had a hump in my nose that I HATED (Jessica Simpson has the same nose I had) and so he just took off the hump.
You will still have some bruising at a week out, but you can say you smacked into a wall or your kid hit you or something. It was just a little yellow. Oh, and I wanted to add that my doc said I healed very fast. Everyone else may take longer.

I had a nose job 13 years ago. My plastic surgeon was pretty conservative and made sure that the resulting nose fit with the rest of my face. He thought the worst results happened when someone with strong features insists on a little nose. Don't read this if you are squeamish, but he removed cartilage from the tip of my nose to get rid of my "hook" and he removed a bump on the boney part of the nose. They do this by filing the bump on this bone and then breaking the bones on either side of the face leading up to the nose. This is necessary to bring the filed bones together and giving you a better profile (without a hump on your nose). It also gives you the black eyes. I hope this description hasn't made anyone ill, but this is probably what you will have to go through.

I had all of this done while under local anesthesia. You don't feel pain, just pressure. My doctor told me that most women can handle the local anesthesia because they are better at disassociating themselves from what is going on. He said that most men wanted the operation done under general anesthesia. (He may have just been trying to reassure me, but I didn't have any panic problems with the surgery.) I also thought it was worth every penny that it cost.

My sister had a nose job. Her recovery was about 1-2 weeks. The result was terrific. Unless you knew her in high school you'd never know she had one.

Rhinoplasty (sorry if I spelt it wrong), what a blessing...........I had a hump on my nose.....and yes every time I look at Jessica Simpson I say to my husband....."that WAS my nose"
I hated my nose from the age of 13 and my mom always said "you'll grow into it", 14 years later at the age of 27 I finally convinced myself I will never grow to like my nose and got it fixed. It was the BEST THING I EVER DID.... My friends thought my nose was "unique", I didn't want unique I wanted a nice nose. When I finally got it done, nobody new what I had done, they commented I looked different and really good but couldn't figure out what it was.
The procedure was relatively simple, I could hear the radio playing Rod Stewart in the background and I remember asking the doctor "Is that a hammer and chissel your using" which I think sort of startled him a little but it didn't faze me at all....The most difficult part I found was the first night sleeping because you can only breathe through your mouth so my tongue got really dry and cracked a little.....nothing major though. The bruising lasted about a week and that was it.
It has been 8 years....Would I do it over again? IN A HEART BEAT :goodvibes
Between my rhinoplasty and my Lasik Eye Surgery I had 2 months ago, things are great

Oh boy. I love to hear your stories!

One day I hope to get my nose done too.

My cousin had one done in her 20's...poor thing inherited the large nose that all the men in our family had. It made her much prettier and self confidant.

I'm thinking of getting one. I have a deviated septum and sinuses that are permanently clogged. While that is being fixed I was going to have it shaped and made a bit smaller. I too was "blessed" with the nose that runs on the male side of the family. I'm not a guy.

I wanted to get one when I was a teen, but my witch-like nose grew on me. No pun intended. :rotfl:

ETA: I also have the nose that all the men in my family have! It suits me just fine now. I would look strange with a smaller nose.
